iīve been think a lot and got that alien could use "Intelligent" plasmas... that would be eg. that if and alien goes behind a house, and there is no line of fire for him, he could still shoot provide there is at last a corridor (not line) for the bullet to follow. (Very similar to Reaverīs Scarabs) but accuracy would be reduced in that shoots (to balance it)

AGAIN, THE IDEA IS OPEN TO CORRECTIONS...

Might be too diffrent to the game it's based on, and would seem rather....wierd. Also, can't it just auto correct its own aim just slightly? I mean, plasma is rather hard to turn when it's in the air, but if it could control it's own muzzle's dirrection, it would be easier to hit the target.

Although this is more of CTD thing. I'd rather have that go in under the accurecy.

Plasma bolts should not be smart weapons. However the aliens due have smart targetting technology for their Elerium projectiles(blaster bombs). Lets just extrapolate and assume they have a few more specialty projectile weapons that use smart AA bullets. For best accuracy, something would have to have LOS, otherwise it is indirect fire. Also, X-COM could devlop their own version once they have teh BB techs.

Another strange twist to the idea, Laser Reflectors. With the alien electronics and hover-engines researched, you could mkae Laser Reflectors. These 1x1 slot(in inventory screen) devices could be remote controlled. They would be set up so a laser bolt would reflecf off them in a determined direction. A soldier could pop one out around a corner and fire into it to fire around the corner. Multiple ones could be set up to hit into bunker and complex paths.

hey guy, itīs a good idea that thing about reflectors... would be like Star Wars seekers? Perhaps they could (bullets and reflectors) lose power as long or as many corners they travel or turn.... :Coffee:

Energy lose would balance out the tactical power of reflectors. Also, considering its 2008, shouldn't both sides have Land Warrior style equipment. THat means troops can shoot around corners using cameras on the rifles as sights.

how can you have a inteligent projectile traveling at high velocity and with a temperature high above the boiling point of steel. becous thats what a plasma projectile is.
edit: plasma isnt realy a projectile, but that just makes it harder

How about your soldiers get little robo drones following them around, similar to this one: http://www.globalsec...n-swords-04.jpg

Then you could just stick mirrors on your drone. Considering robots like this exist now, I consider that reasonable for an elite force in 2008. A little more advanced than Land Warrior though...
