Next Ufo2000

Hi. I'm a new person on the forum. I'm a UFO1/TFTD fan (I didn't like Apocalypse;) ) fan from Poland. I decided to register to post some of my/not only mine opinions about UFO2000. Nice website and community ;)

We'll while playing UFO2000 with my friends, we composed our own To Do list :) :

 

- Replacing the alien sounds with human sounds (it's strange that when you kill a human he screams like an alien)

- Being able to do something during the enemy turn (clicking on your team members to check their hp, stats,equipment etc)

- Adding music (some ufo music, midi)

- On the beggining of the game you should be able to choose rounds. For example 2 rounds: in the first round the second team starts, in the second - the first one. After one round, you are able to change the map.

- Adding armors (!!!) - power armors etc. - they look really neat :)

 

Corrections:

 

- You shouldn't be able to place your units on the water (you cannot move when you do so)

- Maybe Smaller fonts? The size of the teammember name above his bars (energy bar etc.) would be suitable i think

- SNAP SHOT / AIMED SHOT / AUTO SHOT reserving (these 3 red icons near the green one) don't work :( It should be corected ASAP!

 

More things still to come, I will be adding them when I will think about something. Then I will send the whole list to the UFO 2000 mailing list.

- being able to have both male and female soldiers

- since the game can use files from tftd, being able to have tftd skins for soldiers (no armour, plastic armour, ion armour, mag ion armor)

- being able to actually use flying suits (that meaning, being able to fly with flying suits). and being able to use elevators ;)

- WATCH moment on the beginning of every turn (except first) should be faster (specially in hotseat games where u have already seen your friend zapping one of your soldiers. it's annoying to see it again :P ), and you should see the "hidden movement" screen (like in x-com) if you aren't seeing the enemy's movement.

One of the thing's I find annoying is if you land on something you're imobilized ( <_<  dont think I spelled that right).  It's especially annoying if you're climbing stairs and they get shot out from under ya.

well, falling on objects do make your soldiers stuck. I wonder if soldiers should be able to walk out of it.

It is possible, just enter inventory dialog in planner screen (control key + mouse click on soldier name), click on the right part of the screen. It will bring you to the edit soldier stats dialog, You can change the name, skin (some skins are male and some of them are female) and different attributes here.

Right, but now the required minimum of data files is x-com demo so having sking from tftd is a bit difficult now. It is much easier to use maps tfom tftd when they are available (or avoid them) than to workaround available/unavailable skin mess. A proper handling for different skins will be added to the game, but somewhat later.

Ability to fly can make the game even more unbalanced than it is now. Everyone will be using flying suit :) About the elevators, I will try to fix this issue.

If I get hotseat game concept right, you are expected to be away on your opponnent's turn :) That's why replay is useful. If you both watch each other's turn, no replay is required at all. Do you want an option to disable enemy turn replay in hotseat game?

yes, an option would be nice. i can't stick my friends anywhere so that they aren't peeking over my shoulder on a hotseat game :P

btw, music's volume seems to be quite low. how can i increase it? also, how do i make "custom" skins for soldiers (currently there is: no armour, personal armour, power suit, flying suit, sectoid and muton)?

also, when are you gonna implement the Bravery property? i want to see the enemy's soldiers panic ;)

Maybe some new skills like, if you crounch behind a window the enemy wont see you until really close. while you can pop up and blast them from a distance automatically. I would love that ability!

Firstly i must say i love this remake, its *looks at dictionary, soon gives up* great!

 

A quick list of things to change.

-->Firstly sort out the bug that traps you when you fall through the floor onto a broken flight of stairs or something, and stop deployments to where you cannot move.

-->Fix motion scanners, blaster bombs and alike but to stop unbalancing i suggest adding game options. eg. wepaon types to be used, flying on/off, no. of people, these would ensure that people do not sneak blaster bombs into a game if you did not consent it.

-->oh and the ability to change direction u r facing before the game starts, its annoying being the client.
