In my opinion the Calcinite and Deep One are Terror units and should not be given access to weapons, except for the Deep One which has a built in weapon. (which both count as Terror units)

The Calcinite statistics are here:

Alien Weapon Resistances Vulnerabilities
Calcinite HTH (claw) IC,GA,HTH SO

Just to make clear the Calcinite is resistant to Inicidary (Phosperous Torpedos, etc), Gauss weapons and other hand to hand combat weapons (Vibro Blade, Heavy Thermic Lance, etc). It really hates Sonic weapons though.

If it were to work in UFO2000, the Calcinite should be resistant to:

Inicidary (Inicidary Rockets), Laser weapons (comparable to Gauss) and Hand to Hand combat (Stun Rods, maybe Silicoid heat if they were included?).
In keeping that Sonic is basically a renamed Plasma as said by some it's vulnerabilities should be Plasma.

Calcinite stats are here:

Name Rank TU Hl En Re St FA TA F L/R B U
Calcinite Ter 68 55 96 75 110 74 80 35 35 35 10

One point against the Calcinite to use weaponry is that he has a very high incredible strength (he is one of the only humanoids to have this strength, all others are just monsterous i.e. Biodrone, Tenteculat, Tricene). The main point of this is that he could in theory carry nearly every single weapon in the game and have a lethal hand to hand combat punch attack which slaughters nearly every unit. Also note his armour,

F L/R B U
Aqua Plastic Armor 60/ 35/ 30/ 25
Calcinite Diving Suit 35/ 35/ 35/ 10

The Calcinites Diving Suit clearly is more worse than the Aqua Plastic Armour (save for the bottom however which is better by 5. And also noting the Calcinites resistances to Gauss/Laser, Inicidary and HtH make it very deadly. It's big amount of TU's also contribute to firing the weapons and moving, so in short if the Calcinite does have weapons, it would turn out to be a John Rambo, which is bad. The Calcinite should be used to fight in close combat without weapons. Also the accuracy is VERY good! The Calcinite has the best Firing humanoid accuracy in the game for Aliens (74).

And on the Deep One, that's a Terror unit too. At one stage I molecular controlled a Deep One, and found his only weapon to be a 200 shot Sonic Pistol graphic weapon, it is also said by some to be an "Electric Shok/Shock" weapon, or some Sonic Amp, but anyways, this shows that the Deep One is like any other Terror unit in that it has a preset weapon (Cyberdisc has 3 shot Plasma cannon w/ 200 shots, Biodrone has 200 shot Sonic Cannon, Tricene has 200 shot Sonic Cannon too..)

Alien Weapon Resistances Vulnerabilities
Deep One electric shock AP,IC,HE,GA SO,HTH

It is resistant to Gauss/Laser, Inicidary, High Explosive. It hates HtH combat (Stun Rods, Silacoid attack) and Sonic/Plasma weapons.

Name Rank TU Hl En Re St FA TA F L/R B U
Deep One Ter 50 35 90 55 40 70 58 8 6 4 12?

The Deep One however is very weak. It's armour is only just slightly better than a normal aquanaut. It has insane energy (like any other Terror unit) which means it can run for miles, if it wasn't for it's Time Unit limit though. Don't give it weapons!! Look at the Firing Accuracy on this thing, 70. That's more than an average X-Rookie could ever achieve (and better than Aquatoid, Gill Man, even Lobster Man! It's 70!).

Armour comparison:
F L/R B U
Aquanaut Diving Suit 5/ 3/ 2/ /2
Deep One Aqua Plastic 8/ 6/ 4/ 12/?

So in short, Terror units shouldn't have weapons, and they are Terror units.

If this was in UFO2k, then heres the Armour comparing between the Deep One and Calcinite.

F L/R B U
Kevlar Vest 5/ 5/ 5/ 5
Personal Armor 50/40/30/30
Calcinite Diving Suit 35/ 35/ 35/ 10
Aquanaut Diving Suit 5/ 3/ 2/ /2
Deep One Aqua Plastic 8/ 6/ 4/ 12/?
Power Suit 100/80/70/60
Flying Suit 110/90/80/70

So if TFTD and UFO were merged in UFO2k, this is what it could turn out like. But also take note about the Terror creatures weapons. Edited by Chmmr

Couldn't have said it better. What makes Calcinites unique is the fact that they're an efficient dedicated melee unit. Allowing them access to weapons would make them simply a slightly off-colour diver.

Chmmr, where did you get your information from, anyways? It could come really in handy for when I get around to doing the Terror Units.

I found TFTD and UFO strategy guides on Google (contains everything about Aliens, Terrorists, etc which makes it very valuble) :)

UFO Enemy Unknown:

Terror from the Deep:

Alternatively, they are on the www.xcomufo.com website in the Strategy guide part of the UFO/TFTD columns. Edited by Chmmr

I think Deep Ones have been seen with weapons, usually the Blaster Launcher Clone. (They're certainly portrayed with one in the USOpedia) The electrical attack is a last-resort backup.
Why would Calcinites and Deep Ones be so special?
[post="142404"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
They're two of the nastiest terror units other than the you-know-what :wink1:

I actually had a Calcinite attack one of my uberarmoured soldiers (tweaked armour levels = near invincible!) and it actually managed to bring it down a VERY long way, with two strikes. Their melee is a FEARSOME attack... :o Edited by Exo2000

Yes, but they are terror units, why are they so special that you want them to be both terror and normal? why not make the Chryssalid terror and normal too? I'm just curious about what's with the ever-present obsession with the Calcinite I am lately seeing that much.

I dunno. Probably because they're the most human of the terror units, I suppose.
or because they have same animations as an aquanaut and wore weapons in the beta,
[post="142471"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
Yeah, BETA. Beta = Gold/Final. :P

I think Calcinites should be Terror units, and Deep Ones normal. :)

Calcinites should have high move/energy, and low everything else, except HP.

Deep Ones should be slower than normal units (Mutonish) but tougher (also Mutonish)
for me there is...calcinite is cool...however looks like anyone except angry lawyer misunderstood this...its not about making calcinite/deepone normal
its about shall we add an extra aquanaut skin named calcinite and deep one with aquanaut stats in addition to the terror units.
[post="142565"]<{POST_SNAPBACK}>[/post]
Ok, Calcinite is cool, but the Chryssalid is cool to me, why not make the Chryssalid normal? If you are going to add normal terror units just based on a certain people finding a certain Alien cool, you'll end up with no terror units (except Celtatids and the other one I don't remember the name, those aren't cool :P)

Deviating things because "I think it would be cool" isn't well compared to "it is original, it stays original and needs to be kept ballanced" IMHO. And btw, adding calcinite as a human suit for underwater is just silly...sounds exactly like the "ethereal" idea of a human wearing its clothing...why would humans waste their time making those clothing when they obviously are weaker than the first armor in both games?

And yes, I did misunderstand what you meant gurluas2000, simply because your previous poll confused me. Thinking about adding it now, it just seems too confusing to put "Add calcinite"... Edited by Kratos
