SND - USELESS - Another Music Example

Recommended Posts

Ok so this example was made for a Neverwinter nights project. This example is just to show what can be done in my home studio. This piece is not mixed so dont expect to much about the quality of the reverb and such. Was the only example I had on this computer that I am "legally" able to show you. <_<

Yeah I know him, I met him briefly when I lived in LA. Awesome dude, and his work on the Rainbow Six series is a milestone in game music.

I use all sorts of samplers mostly gigastudio from nemesys and kontakt from Native Instruments. Ive got a very large library of Samples I work with, they are quite expensive but they sound incrediebly authentic for orchestral music. For sequencing I use Cubase SX and a few VSTi instruments like Atmosphere and Trilogy from Spectrasonics

Im willing to do some work if you feel you are in need of something orchestral grandioso for credits or whatever. My portfolio is always in need of projects. =)

Cheers

Very nice stuff. It has that military feel to it while being qwuite stealthy. I can see this piece in a lose mission, lose game kind of situation. It'd add to that 'well now you've gone and blown it' so you might as well feel sorry for yourself. :)

Can you do dark industrial music with a military overtone?

Hmm I made a little sketch/excerpt of a victory fanfare, you can check it out here http://game.hgo.se/student/sim1/hg2971/Mus...lltversion1.mp3

I recorded it in like a few minutes so the percussion is a little off beat.
Feel free to feedback on it, if you like it I could finish it and implent all instruments. I could give it a more techno oriented approach if that is what you like. FEEDBACK PLZ =)

Cheers

[EDIT] Ye well the snares is a bit more off beat than when I record it, but you get the picture :D

Earcandy, and I'm not just saying that because you are yet a another of my classmates, who seems hellbent on droping in here one by one :P

The trumpets in the victory song sounds a little thinny, am I right in thinking that they only are temporary...? Solid compostion. Edited by Cubik

Well Ive got both Trumpet ensemble and Horn ensemble there. I dont have any trombones yet though, trombones have that bassier sound so thats why it sounds thin, no trombones yet to back the other brass up. Thats why I want feedback, so I know if I should throw the tune in the bin or really start working on it.
And yes everything in this piece is temporary, i just sketched out a melody and harmony, theres no mixing or eq'ing involved so everything sounds thin. GOOD EARS for a graphic dude cubic =)

Cheers

[EDIT] I did a very quick eq'ing of the brass section of the "fanfare" so that it wont sound as thin ;) so check it out

for what my opinion is worth i think that the second recording reminds too much of those medieval/renessaince games (and yet i posted a medieval looking armor ...what a weird person i am  ) anyways the first one is just perfect although i dont know for what yet :) ...maybe for the beginning of a mission
