night
I can't use the XcomUtil in my version of xcom to update the tanks so i'm looking for other programs to improve their stats and actually make them worth while
j'ordos
I don't really know of any editing programs for TFTD that could do that. Might be better to try and get xcomutil running, why doesn't it work for you?
yarrow
j'ordos is right why do you want to reinvent the wheel, when xcomutil already has it? seriously, some tips which might help1.) read the <***> manual ( or any readme.txt file that comes with xcomutil )2.) try to search the internet, starting with xcomutil FAQ3.) run cmd ( start->run ) and then run xcomutil, not just click on its .bat filethis way you can see some error messages, which should be helpful you can even try to search for this forum most important:dont just give up, after only one tryyou are older than 2 years child ... right? yarrow
night
i cant do the split the geoscape and battlescape as my computer hates the new file and the visuals get all messed upi've tried fixing it and running as older type windows but no go this leaves me with a much more limited selection of changes, many of which i think are great but no improved tanks so i was looking for alternatives or a standalone patch thanks for the help though Edited April 10, 2011 by night

[NKF]
Couldn't agree more, the last time I assaulted a Fleet Supply Cruiser I took the mission really slowly. Probaly 60+ turns since it was dark and I only had 3 of 4 flares to throw around (1 got stuck). After the magic turn, I was expecting lots of Lobstermen to come out of the ship, but they stayed inside, which made it difficult to assault. In UFO most of them would've come outside by now. XComutil should be able to work on any PC platform, but perhaps it's not agreeing with something on your PC configuration. What version do you have? The CE edition or the Dos version played under Dosbox? If you're using the version purchased from Steam (or similar service), then you'll have both. About the tanks - from my recent experience I (well, we - there's a bunch of us playing the same game) found the default Gas Cannon Coelacanth to be quite a valuable tank early on. Had to replace it a few times but still a magnificent vehicle for scouting and it even killed more Gillmen than our individual troops at various terror sites. What I'm saying is that it's a pretty good machine even without the enhancements. Better than UFO's cannon tank - though I'm starting to appreciate that machine a little bit more recently too. The Sonic Displacer on the other hand is a veritable powerhouse of a vehicle. Well worth the money and zrbite to build. - NKF Edited April 11, 2011 by NKF
