Art - Plasma Cannon

heres a first draft of the plasma cannon. The prons arn't shaded, and some of it needs a bit of a checkup, but it's pretty close.

I took the prons off the plasma pistol/rifle, but it was so unorganized (left and right side not having the same ammount of polies, the rear end swaying a bit to the right, and the like), that most of the time was making the prons right.

Looks amazing, mikker, but I think the Plasma Cannon looks too much cooler than the Quantum Cannon, and I think it should be the other way around, after all the Quantum Cannon is the ultimate craft weapon, isn't it? (it's the Fusion Ball Launcher, right?)

Great work! :D

The QC is taking some time, gonna make it the coolest.

The plasma, however, is completely done.

(looks cool from above - didn't notice that untill now. Doesn't connect that way though.)

Ok, I updated the plasma cannon, and stretched it out like the quantum cannon. Changed the front spikes so they are extensions of the rear, and made the two others simple instances.

The stretching out was with a cylinder, where i adjusted the vertexes to actually be in a cylinder shape (they were only almost-cylinder shaped before). I did this to the QC as well. I can't do it with the laser cannon, however, as it's already chopped to pieces. Oh well.

I really like it, good job

there's only one thing about it i don't like, but i can't identify it, so i'll let someone else identify it

otherwise, i think its excellent

I do like the streched out version, but I think its a little too streched out right now. Pulling the front vertices back a little bit will make it look a bit more believable. I like the idea of merging the back spikes into the front spikes but again I think that it needs a bit more refinement. Maybe try making the back spike merge in so there isn't a straight line where they join but a little bulge as the back slopes into the front and increase the thicknes of the joint a bit more so it doesn't ook so fragile. Otherwise a very nice start there. :)

yeah thats better... can you increase the aperture diameter on the front to give it a bit more bulk in shot size?

alright, one final thing i think about it

Is there anyway you could make the back of it thinner? It looks nice on its own, but i can't see it fitting onto an interceptor simply because the back is so much wider than the front.

edit: however, the arms may be very difficult to modify, so if its too difficult you can just ignore my suggestion

The backsides are of the same width in the GAIA/quantum, the plasma, and the laser cannons. The major difficulty would be the plasmas spikes, which extend further out. As I assume that the cannons will be extended out of the interceptor when needed to be fired, it should only cause trouble in storage, and not in actual use. But I guess the Interceptors can be changed to outfit them, somehow.

THe back is fine the way it is, it just needs to have the front diameter expanded to give more bulk to the weapon.

Sorry I was just answering your previous question that the front end was what I Was talking about. It didn't look like you had made any changes to comment on in the pic you attched to your question :)

OK. What exactly is it that needs to be expanded? I'm not quite sure I catch your drift then.

Ah! I get it now. I thought you ment the diameter of the circle that the end of the prons form.

ok, I'm doing the unwrapping for this now. Just finished the pongs. Wern't that much of a problem as I thought it would be.

edit: darn, that was fast. It really does help when everything is symetrical, and the only thing you need is rotating it o.O

mmmmmh, I'm having problems fixing it up, after making the images. I tried using morph, but it just messed it up. Any ideas? I don't remember what I used to do.

not seeing whats wrong here...

Nono, it's not the textures that are wrong, its when I try to put it back together afterwards.

I usualy dont break the model itself, I just leave it the same way.. Then use mesh or poly select to apply a certain map (Planer, Cylindrical etc) to the area and then move it to the actual "Unrawp Mesh" Then once everything is done I select everything and say Unrawp Map or something like that and arrange the pieces into the square and as well re-size them while checking for errors...
