Hi all, I am a programmer and XCOM fan. I think it would be fun to make some utilities for XCOM to play around with the file formats. I'm most likely going to create a GUI based system in Java for editing all types of XCOM files. I wanted to know if anyone knows of additional file format information other than these sites:
http://www.ufopaedia...title=Main_Page
and
http://www.stonepool.com/xcom/
any additional information would be great. Also listing any feature requests would be nice as well.
Thanks.

Yeah, that link goes to the same information as the stonepool link. Does anyone else know of any other file information?
Anyone have any feature requests?
I am contimplating doing a map editor, I think that would be really cool, any thoughts?

i´m toying around a "Alien Assault" mod that would decrease the number of XCOM soldiers possible in each ship (already done with xcomutil) and increase the number of aliens in every mission...
The second part of the mod can be done with Xcomutil by saving the game in tactical and aplying several flags to the savegame (basically adding more alien units) but i wanted to create an executable file that would analize the tactical savegame using xcomutil, determining the type of mission (medium scout, terror mission, base attack, etc.) and the type of the alien and adding the new alien units to the mission...
My programming skills are zip, but maybe, if you want, you could create this executable...
Try beating 40 aliens in a terror mission with only 8 soldiers and you will see the fun....

I think I still have the saved game with the 40+ Chryssalids and Snakemen assaulting an X-COM Base......

I think this would be a nice feature. Probably the best way (other than coding it yourself, something which both aren't capable of doing) would be for Scott Jones to include it as an option to XComUtil, but he has dropped off radar for some time now...
