I saw on the website the project had been discontinued before I ever heard of it, but I'm curious. Is this project supposed to be a remake of the classic Apple IIGS game Xenocide that I wasted far too many hours of my childhood playing?

I looked at the website, but it never really talks about what the game is supposed to be about, or even what it is. I'm just curious before I resort to downloading the demo shown there.

Alas the project had ALMOST everything. It was well organized, had plenty of resorces, and had lots of motivated and talented people. But, basically it only had one programmer who had any spare time. And so that was that.
I'm starting to like the heavy cannon more and more.

Just a thought. Since minecraft has proven that hardware is good enough now that a real time first person game with inefficent world rendering algorythms can be written in JAVA, I wonder if Xenocide in JAVA would be worth it. Of course with the new UFO Enemy unknown, there'd be the opportunity to combine the desireable elements of that game into it as well. Hm?
