Is there a walkthrough to help me get started with this game. One major issue I have is when it asks me for a password and username before it tries to connect to a server. I could really use some help and I would love to play the game against someone.

Oh and what is the latest version of the game I can download. I have a beta atm.

Is there a walkthrough to help me get started with this game. One major issue I have is when it asks me for a password and username before it tries to connect to a server.

There is help button in the login dialog which has some explanation. You can pick any username and password as you like, but it's better not to use any valuable password for security reasons. Just be sure that the server address is set to 'ufo2000.net'.

Though I'm not totally happy about it and did not take any part in its creation myself. Because this video uses the graphics resources from X-COM (which are copyrighted by the original x-com creators) and it's a bad idea to use them in any 'official' ufo2000 promotional materials.
