Guest Jim69
On my old P4 1.7ghz it worked fine with no utilities but now on the 2.8ghz I need a slowdown util.
j'ordos
I have it working on both an athlon 2000+ and an athlon 1700+ t-bred running at ~2000 MHz, and both are working fine (a bit fast, but still playable) without slowdown. spacekdet
Thanks for those that responded I really need more replies for my theory but so far bar one, it seems that its the pentiums that have the speed problems and the athlons dont Any comments on that theory? Guest Raion
When the Collector's Edition, the review said about any computer over 350mHz speed. I agree with that. Although I can run it on a faster computer, the geoscape is the fast part, and trying to intercept.Although it mentioned that they slowed it down, that was back in 1998 - 97, when upgrading with Direct X 6.1 and it does not slow down that much.If playing on a 133mHz like my old computer, then it runs much better and well, those old computers are sometimes needed.Even with that, a 90mHz Pentium will probably still work also. j'ordos
I remember this was the first game we bought, on our very first computer back in '94 I believe, and that was a 386sx 25 MHz (4MB RAM), and it ran smoothly. I doubt there's a pc out there that can not run it (ok, there are, but 386 or better and you're fine, at least the dos version, CE I know for sure runs ok on 486dx with 12 MB RAM and win95) Edited September 23, 2003 by j'ordos
Guest Guest
I have a problem with speed: during missions the scroll is way too fast and I can't see the shots when my soldiers fire. I put them on the lowest settings possible in-game. I have a athlon 1800+ XP, disabled hardware acceleration. Any other ideas? Where can I find a slowdown util? Darkside
When I use turbo, it causes a brief 2-4 second lag in the game very often. It's getting very irritating, and I don't want to raise the cpu usage because it's already at a point where the scrolling is a little too fast. I think it's with the way turbo is made, probably spawns some threads to do token tasks which use cpu cycles, but every once in a while I guess it's gotta respawn some thread,s and that is causing my computer to hang for a few seconds. Why did computers have to get so fast? :crying:

Possibly, tho I have never had problems on a processor that hasn't been hyper threaded ( think that's the right spelling )
