j'ordos
Well, the title says it all, I don't know if it has been brought up before, I couldn't find anything about it though. What I mean is: in the original xcom games, every time you landed at a crash site, your craft would be landed in the same direction, and every time the UFO would have landed or crashed facing the same direction. Since we are using 3d models it should be easy to give the craft and UFO's random facings in the battlescape, so you don't know beforehand where the door is. Guest Jim69
That's true, it would be easy enough and each map would be that much different as well
Cpl. Facehugger
Hmm, might be intresting. But, we would have to make it so that there was always at least 2 spaces between the skyranger's ramp, and the end of the map, otherwise you wouldn't be able to get your tanks out of the ship... Extralucas
That's rather obvious . In original X-Com Ufo always had at least 1 or 2 tiles space between end of map. I think that human transport craft should always land near to UFO, like in original X-Com. I didn't like in TFTD looking for UFO around all the map. Cpl. Facehugger
Well, in ufo, the maps were so small that you couldn't help but land near the ufo... The TFTD maps were signifigantly larger iirc.
Extralucas
And that was this what I didn't like in TFTD, amongst other changes ( ). I guess X-Com wants to conduct quick and effective action, so they probably land as near as they can. However, I know I'll be overcounted at this point. [dipstick]
Yep you will. Just make sure the camera is movable or something so you can actually SEE the door
SupSuper
I don't think the X-Com craft should land too close to the crashed / landed UFO. I mean, sure that X-Com knows the exact location of the UFO, but the aliens would probably try to shoot down X-Com's craft if it got too close, since transport crafts aren't equipped with weapons (only the soldiers inside ) so it would make more sense if the X-Com craft would land at a relatively safe distance. it's amazing how games with aliens should be realistic
Cpl. Facehugger
Well, the skyranger usually did land away from any alien weapons fire. Usually. And remember, that the aliens spread out quite a bit after being shot down. Hmm, how about we make aliens who crased want to hijack your skyranger? That would explain why they won't shoot at it while it is landing and it would be funny to watch.
fux0r666
I dunno. I don't know if the pilot would be able to see aliens on the ground, in the dark at night.
[dipstick]
Easy answer - get the door down and have your commander with his plasma cannon/BB launcher (delete as appropriate) firing at the aliens as they land.
