I did some searching, but i didnt`t find a solution to this problem so i decided to ask if anyone knows about this.

I downloaded this game, it worked fine for the first time, but now when i try to run it all it gives me is this:

I can quit by pressing the Esc button and press the buttons, but i cant see the mouse cursor. And every time attempt to press a button all it just gives me a dark screen.

I think, this should be explored. Maybe someone has the same problem. Changing a user (probably its a profile-bug) can't be the solution for this! Sorry, but I am an perfectionist, I want it perfect, if possible.

Mike

but i think that the fact that changing the user helps, suggets that the source of the problem is rather to be found somewhere inside his windows installation, than inside ufo2000 code... don't you think so?

Did you install ufo2000 in your personal folder? If so then another profile might not have access to those files. Also maybe there's something with the account type that has to be admin to work.

Could you provide details about the path to the install and account types?

  • 2 weeks later...

Sorry about the delay.

If by path to install you mean the drive and the folder, (i aren`t an expert in these things...) i installed it into D:\games\UFO2000 Beta.

All of the accounts on our computer have the rights to install games and all that stuff... However my brother`s account (which i normally use to install games) might have some things i don`t know about. I will edit it here later. The game runs properly on my own account.

I didn`t install it in the personal folder.

D:\ (D drive), why is it 'D:\'? Typical drives are 'C:\'. D drive is normally used for a CD drive or DVD drive. Either I am losing my computer skills (which I practically am since I have been spacing time from the computer alot), or you are having hardware and software conflicts. Edited by Kratos

(i aren`t an expert in these things...Bite me.)

I see no insults been made towards you in this thread. Even so, I would have rid of them and warn the poster to not do so again. There are 3 things I hate; cursing, flamming, and spamming.

Since this has nothing to pertain to the topic, pm me. Any posts from ANY user regarding this post will not be tolerated since it may result in flamming, and most definitely will result in spamming.

My computer has two drives: C:\ and D:\. The CD drive is E.

And no, there hasn`t been any flaming or spamming in this topic. I merely mentioned that so that no-one wouldn`t be surprised if i am answering some question, and the answer doesn`t make sense.

Stranger things have happened. On my old machine my 6GB hard drive was partitioned into C:\, D:\ and E:\. I was the only kid in the country blessed with a CD drive as F:\.

LOL, nothing compared to my drive letters....

C, D, E <- 3 partitions on the first hard drive

F <- my cd-burner (which doesnt burn anymore *grml*)

G <- virtual drive by daemon tools

H <- DVD-ROM

I,J,K <- unused... they must have been used once, but got lost somehow...

L,M <- the two partition of the second hard drive

thats a real mess *LOL*

I've got...

C:\ (Previous OS, now assorted)

D:\ (Games, mostly)

E:\ (Assorted, mostly utility programs)

F:\ (CD/DVD Drive)

G:\ (Assorted-More Games)

K:\ (OS)

L:\ (Assorted-Games, Downloads)

M:\ (UT2004)

N:\ (Music)

(Who knows where I, J, H, etc. went!)

~~

Back on track, however!

Try copying it manually to a different directory or installing it to a different directory. (I have to install the new betas to a different folder, because it won't let me overwrite for some reason, so try installing it to a different folder)
