I think what we need is (in order):
1. fix bugs / usability issues
2. add (simple) AI
3. add single player game mode
4. maybe still get something like massive multiplayer up and running :)

Basically it means that I have reconsidered a lot of things since starting this thread. And it also may be a good time for adding (optional?) 3D graphics support to the engine too ;)

Should the game support more than "factions" at once, in the same battle?

Like in UFO, there were XCOM, ALIENS, and CIVILIANS... now we'd have like 3 players, or 2 players hunting a same group of aliens (eventually AI).

I wonder if this should go before or after adding AI.

We are deviating too much from the main topic :) Well, supporting more than 2 teams at once can be definitely implemented only after bugfixing. Right now the game can barely cope with just two players.
