mamutas
Hi there, It is about a good time we set some order in our development process. When while ago there were just few of us there was an anarchy. But now when our numbers have grown we cannot continue like that. So here are some suggestions. Every project member and recruit working in programming department must read. 1) Subscribe to xenocide-programming mailing list at Sourceforge.net and use it for low level technical discussions (RK already has requested this). Forums could be used as well, but all code-related issues should be discussed using that mailing list. 2) Utilize Sourceforge.net task tracking mechanizm. Each member must enter and update the status of the tasks he is working on. I will enter my tasks and tasks I am aware about immediately. The important is to specify all fields as best as you know. Special attentions should be paid to the dependencies chain. This will give us tremedous benefits. Everybody will know what is going on, so we will not step on each other toes. Everyone will have a chance to participate in code design discussion. We will be able to monitor our progress and concentrate on the highest priority tasks first. And last, but not least: by having heavy activity on Sourceforge pages we will be able to increase awareness about our project and attract more people to it. And (why to lie?) Xenocide could become 'a project of the month', which yours truly sees in his dreams. I will monitor tasks in the Sourceforge (until the specific position of Project Manager will be established) at least once a month.
[stewart]
I was under the impression that RK was the project manager? When the e-mail discussion completes it must be summarized back in the forums for proper filing, as we have been doing with chat conversations that require a record.. red knight
There are several subprojects going arround, just to name a few: NetworkLib, Wintoolkit, Xenocide Data Definitions, Bug Tracking, PAQ Files, etc. I cannot be the project of everyone that is what mamutas was trying to say... I am for the general project and for some others but I cannot for all of them. GreetingsRed Knight
