Heat
Err i just ran into this problem. I was using my leviathan to shoot down a very large ship, i think it took abt half damage b4 it managed to shoot the alien ship down. Now i finished the mission (didnt get any zrbite again ) but then the leviathan goes for repair for like 21 days! n its still repairing! Now i tot it might be zrbites so i transferred all my zrbites to that base with the ship in it around 25. Is that the problem? not enough zrbite, or does this ship take that long to reapir? I really need it for mission especially in the late game where i am.
Extralucas
So... First of al it would be check damage % level. If it's decreasing then they're repairing it (porbably gonna end some day). Those big ships are getting repaired really long so I'm not using 'em often. Only when I really need to destroy something. (Maybe Terror Ship approaching disstant city, so only way to predict Terror Site is shoting it down with one of these Fast Ships) I guess shoting down Battleships is pointless. When they land on their own you can take all of their zrbite, and don't worry about damaged ship.
SupSuper
it is possible, indeed. i once had a Barracuda that repaired like 1% damage/day and had like 80% damage like extralucas said, just check if the damage % of the ship is going down from time to time. if it's not, THEN you can start worrying Edited September 23, 2003 by SupSuper
Heat
Well i found that it was repairing, just taking bloody ages! So i loaded back a bit n just make sure i dont get it damaged again, its almost like fixes 1% per day which is relaly bs...
Extralucas
Probably when you've got one almost destroyed it would be better to just sell it :/ It will be faster to make new one (probably a little less than month, and repair of 90% damaged ship will take 3 months)
Worm
If u use sonar oszillators u will never get damaged vs any ships but dreadnoughts, cause u have simply more range. And they dont need any ammo :/best ship weapon in the game
Jenny
Repair times can be insanely long. That's why some people have a spare base just for repairing craft (not me personally though, but I think stewart's strategy includes one).

Research that sonic tree ASAP build those Sonic Oscillators and you can get almost evry ship down with your interceptor. Then search for an alien colony, build a base next to it and try to down those supply ships and get your goodies
KGB
There is one thing I don't get. You need ammunition for every craft weapon except for the best one. Makes it too easy of the decission.
j'ordos
no need for laser/gauss ammo either.
Puasonen
You had to make ammo for gauss cannon IIRC
Robo Dojo 58
It'd be nice if you could use some engineers to help repairing craft. 1-3 months is just too long of a repair time, when you can build the craft in one week.
j'ordos
You had to make ammo for gauss cannon IIRC Hmm, I always thought you only had to make ammo for the personal weapons, but not for the tank and craft ones ...
Whitewashed
the gauss cannon requires ammo
j'ordos
yep, just checked it again, it does. I wonder why the tank then doesn't need any. Or is it using the craft ammo type too?
Puasonen
J'ordos, when have you last played TFTD without using xcomutil? You probably have forgotten how it was meant to be
j'ordos
It's been quite long since I played TFTD altogether  .
Cpl. Facehugger
In the original, all gauss stuff required ammo. Xcom util made it so that Personal Gauss weapons only had unlimited ammo. You still had to manufacture gauss ammo for the tank and the craft gauss cannon.
