In a while a mod will make you a recruit, and then you will be able to see the workshop and see what has already been done. IF you could produce a sample of some of your work that would help as well.

Hey all, I just love this idea, Im a hardcore x-com fanatic, and the idea of ppl gathering together making a game from scratch is so great that I would be honoured to join. I have synths, effect tables and guitars and such with alot of experience in making music and feel like I could really contribute to this project.

Excellent! As far as I know, we don't have much sound FX (if at all) We have some music for many different occasions but we really need all those alien voices, human voices, gun voices, aircraft voices, door voices, tank voices, everything..!

Thats cool, if I could get a spesific list over the sounds and some description (or even pictures would be great) over the objects making them, it would be great. The pictures or description so that I can find a sound that fits. Also I have a couple of cool gitar riffs I think would be cool to play when the interceptors fight the UFOs and some other tunes as well.. How far have you guys actually reached with the music/sfx part? Edited by Toofan

I believe Raven Squad is the member you'd want to contact for that matter.

There's a specific forum for the music in the workshops, http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showforum=45, and for the sound, http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showforum=66
You can't post there until an admin makes you a project recruit however, but you should be able to see it for now.
For the pictures you'll have to look around, some can be found in the assetlist, some more in the images forumhttp://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showforum=29.

This list should provide for your early needs :)

And since our official welcome guy is nowhere to be seen (where is he when you need him? ): Welcome to Xenocide

Hello and welcome to project xenocide recruit :)

To your questions:
As Nyyperoid said basically we have only few sfx ready so far. So there is much work to be done there. All geoscape sounds and menu sounds are now most urgent, but battlescape sfx are welcome also. Just remember that they have to be copyright free.

About music, there is list what music needs to be done,
http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1447 . Some of the music has been already done, i will update list soon.

If you have more questions, send me a pm or email.

Welcome man

I'd just like to add that if it is possible to have some heavy riffs for airfights that would be excellent

Welcome. Musicians are almost as needed as programmers! Your skills will be a great help, i'm sure. Speak to Raven Squad about getting a sound assignment.

Soon, an admin will make you a recruit. Recruits can post in the workshops (where the majority of xenocide work is done.) From your resume, I think you will be best in the sound department. :)

Welcome to Xenocide!

I'm a guitarist and I also have some music creating software on my computer I can do different stuff with. If there's any use for me I'd be glad to help.

I don't have any experience of making music for a game but I just quickly threw together 2 short peices as example. You can use them in the game if you want. You could add effects and stuff to them too.

Here they are:

http://www.magnic.com/viktor/Xenocide1.mp3

http://www.magnic.com/viktor/Xenocide2.mp3

Otherwise if there's a sound artist that wants a melody played with real guitars I'd be glad to do it. I can also add drums if you like. Just send me the melody as some MIDI recording or whatever.

hi,

i found your page while searching for solutions to get xcom3 running under xp/2k... and now i realized that you´re planning to do a remake... and i love this idea, especially because i loved the soundtrack of the first part (which was really athmospheric and cool)

i´d really like to do some sound and music for this project.
i´m mostly into all electronics (house, dnb, downtempo, nujazz etc) but i also do some orchestration (i´m a proud owner of the vsl since a few weeks) so if you need my help just reply,

greeting from vienna/austria

max (syncope)

p.s.: if you wanna hear some demos write a mail and i´ll send you a link (tho they´re not very "creepy" its just for proving my skills)

A sound artist, good. We can always use more of you. Once an admin notices this post, you will be made a recruit (who have post abilities in the workshops.) The workshops are where the vast majority of Xenocide work is done.

You should probably contact Raven Squad for an assignment (He is the sound dept. leader isn't he?)

Most importantly, Welcome to Xenocide!

Im not exactly a sound artist, but I work for the USAF, I can get recordings of Aircraft taking off, plus I am an avid gun collector. I have a ton of different weapons I can fire and record for one of you sound jockeys to hack up and make appropriate for the game. :explode:

I'm intersted in contributing music/SFX. While I do play a wide variety of instruments, the only things I'd be able to record are electronic. (in other words, I don't have a decent mic yet) I also do softsynth stuff using Reason 2.5 in conjunction with an Evolution MK-461C MIDI keyboard controller. With all the devices made available by Reason I can crank out everything from songs to beeps to flat out weird noise.

I've gathered that Raven Squad is the man I need to talk to, but ICQ isn't wanting to work for me. Any other more direct way I can get in contact with you? (i.e. AIM/MSN/Yahoo)

Hi, I'm new to the forums and a huge X-Com fan, and I'm very interested in the project you guys are working on here.

I could possibly help out with sound. I'm an amateur producer of trance music, though I can pretty much do any type of music with my software. If not that, I can do some freehand drawings and concept art.

I'd like to help out, and this project looks like it will be a major success. ^_^

Well I've been playing music since ever... As everyone here, or at least that's what I think, I'm an x-com fan and would like to help. I have a few friends that study music full-time in the conservatory of music, and they would love to help also, we have a lot of equipment as we used to be in a band, everything can be connected to the computer, and we have a small recording studio.

I know about programming also as this is my major. I have knowledge in a few programming languages like assembly, c++ and java.. My specialty is in c++ though. I'm starting a programming team with a few from the department and we are all fans of open source projects and x-com, so far we have 1 3d model designer, 3 programmers, 2 web designers, 100 or so (so-called beta testers :P, I guess you should know how this is), and a few animation artists (that actually draw better than they animate :P). So there you have it. Just tell us how and when and we will be there!

:boohoo:  :argue:

Well, the first step would be getting your people signed up here on the forums as well, so they can have a direct voice in things. I know that there is a fair amount of sound work to be done, and we can never have too many programmers. Now we just an admin to make you a recruit.

"Paging Dr. Admin. Paging Dr. Admin, you have a visitor waiting in the Recruitment Center. And he's brought friends..."

Well sounds like Dr Admin has already visited the Recruitment Center...
Remnorz, if your fellow programmers want to apply for working in Xenocide, let them know to PM me after posting in the respective thread.

BTW Welcome to Xenocide

I sent an email regarding me willing to help out in the soundtrack department. but that was before I knew of the forums :-) Here is the original email I sent to the site admin.

"Hello, I am a former PC musician who did a few tracks here and there
within the PC modscene. I am of moderate talent and I was wondering if you
still need background/battle music for the Xenocide game.

I'm not promising much, it having been a while since I last composed
music, but I would gladly dig out the old tracking progs and samples and try
to whip something up. I'll probably try to stick to the sort of music that
the X-Com series has traditionally used, like dark ambient and electronic
tunes, maybe with some guitars thrown in.

If you are interested I could eventually send you a demo track in whatever
format you would desire. I assume you'll be wanting to use either module
formats (IT, XM, etc.) or Ogg Vorbis. I can convert the music into any of
those formats. MP3 is also an option, but I bet you would want to forgo the
licensing fees that go with it."

I'd send a sample of my work right away, but I'm dissatisifed with my older stuff and I'm already working on a track for Xenocide so bear with me for a little bit :-)

Oh yeah, and what formats IS Xeno going to be using? Ogg Vorbis?
Link to comment

We will use ogg vorbis. Now that u are recruit u can post samples of your work at music forums (scroll little up and there is link to it :) ).

Welcome to Xenocide all of u new recruits!
