No More Fmiags?

Recommended Posts

Only ones I've seen are old, as in no posts for months. (or at least a few weeks). Did the rage die? If so, I missed out :crying1:

Before you say it, I WOULD start one myself, but A) My games fairly edited, and I don't really want to undo it all. B.) I suck. :( C) I probably wouldn't be too dedicated. I doubt I'd play every day.

In short, either someone start one up so I can get into it, or just tell me the fad is dead. Maybe I'm crazy, and theres one right at the top. If so, tell me. :P

The minimum equipment you need to have complete control over the game is to get some medium disrupters, have the ability to build ships that can arm the disrupters and have the ability to dimension hop (the Explorer being the earliest ship - although you need larger fleets), and can produce small shields. With these, you've pretty much won the game.

What this means is that once you've got the capability to knock down the alien fleet each week (that's when they regenerate - until you knock out the command centre), you've got all the time in the world after that to do whatever, whenever, you want.

What's worse, if you keep this up for many months, you can actually get super soldiers trained up through the labs from scratch without having them go on any missions.

You can pretty much let the game drag on for as long as you want. Unfortunately, it gets a little quite after this.

I was more reffering to what this had to do with the whole FMIX idea. I think you misunderstood me. I meant that I wanted to see how other people, who posess better skills than me, would use my character in a superhuman game (Where I would get OBLITERATED.)

Well, it's still true for any game, FMIX or your standard game. At any difficulty level, if you can bodge your way through everything until you reach a certain tech level, you can last the rest of the game at your pace after that.

But as for superhuman - don't fret about it. In Apocalypse (unlike UFO and TFTD), once you get use to it you sometimes wonder what all the fuss was about. I only revert to the earlier difficulties when I want to play on a different map. ;)

The main difference, apart from the cityscape and the slightly more aggressive UFOs, of course, comes in the number of enemies you'll face in combat. Their stats may be slightly increased, but this is hardly noticeable. With more aliens comes more points, and this results in alien tech improving a lot faster than you can usually keep up with.

That's where the main bulk of the difficulty lies. But test the waters a bit and give it a few goes for yourself and see if you can handle the first couple of missions. If all goes well and you feel more confident about it, keep at it. Don't worry if you cannot handle the UFOs straight away. There are many ways to skin a cat, as the cliche goes.

With a FMIX game, the reporting and the group decision making is where the fun is at (or rather, the most work for the game master). It also requires dedication, and keeping everyone informed at regular intervals or else the interest will wane. That has been the common fate of our previous FMIX games.
