Closest thing I ever saw was a batch file someone made that changed the soldier tactical/equip graphics to that of an anthropod/skeletoid...
xcomutil has the option to switch sides during battlecape, but that's xcom1&2, and apocutil doesn't have that feature I believe....

There is one method of putting enemy units in your team for the duration of the battle.

Use XED to edit a savegame that's been saved in the battlescape. Select an alien and have XED 'heal' the unit. It seems XED also flips the ownership flag of the unit to X-Com when it heals units for some inexplicable reason. But hey, there you go.

It's not really worth it apart from the novelty of having, oh, something like a megaspawn on your team. :)

No, it's not an elegant solution, and calls for a fairly adequate utility that doesn't run on newer systems very well (if at all).
