Shotgunner Posted December 9, 2006 Report Share Posted December 9, 2006 Real simple yet dumb question. I am using XCOMUTIL v9.60 on the CE version of UFO Defense. Now, it runs great and everyhting, but I am slightly confused - at the end of the first month, for example, it may tell me that China is rather happy with me and has agreed to increase it's funding of the project. Now, I usually put my first base in the middle of the USA(LITERALLY somewhere around the S of USA on the Geoscape) or somewhere in the general Nevada area(Area 51 anyone ). Since I have been using the transport-capible Interceptor that XCOMUTIL gives us, I do not have the range to get to China(let alone have no way of seeing what is over there with only a large radar). So, what I would like to know is - do I have a corrupted copy of UFO Defense on my PC, or is this another thing caused by XCOMUTIL? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

It simply means that China has not seen an UFO over their borders for that whole month and that they are happy about it, even if you haven't shot down a single UFO there. THAT never happened before I started using XCOMTUTIL - I usually got russia/asia pissed at me for no interceptions.... Well, thanks for the info Hobbes. At least this explains why I could intercept about 10 UFOs over the N.America/Central America regions(Canada, Mexico, USA, etc.) yet still get a "Terrible" rating at the end fo the month. , or I could intercept only 2 and get an Excellent rating. Shotgunner Posted December 10, 2006 Author Report Share Posted December 10, 2006 (edited) Most of my ground assaults only revolve around the small-medium UFO's my radars pick up, as I dont have enough troops to handle the larger casuality rates the bigger ships would cost me at present. I can understand keeping the airspace of a regon(like Asia or Europe) clear, but rougly half of my UFOs are of the Medium size or smaller, so about half of them are jkust sot down and ignored. It happens even without XComUtil. If there's no activity over a country (UFOs arriving at that area and buzzing around, not simply overflying) then at the end of month it can either receive a raise or not, depending on your luck. I'm not 100% exact but the monthly rating is dependent on the points scored for each tactical mission completed by the aliens/X-COM. If you have 10 successful recoveries that earned you 50 points each during the entire month but a terror mission had a score of - 600 then your rating would be terrible. You can check how you're doing using the graphs for the monthly score since those are constantly updated. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
