fabre
When I launch the xcomsetup.bat it says my xcom DOS version is 1.4, but it's a fresh install of the 1.2 Is this a bug? or my DOS version is really 1.4 eventhough I didn't patch it?How can I be sure? j'ordos
either xcomutil detects it wrong, or it really is the 1.4 version . Does it really matter?doesn't the box/readme/wherever you got it state the version?edit : You could also download the patch anyway, that way you're sure it is v1.4 Edited April 20, 2004 by j'ordos
fabre
Well I want to run the 1.2 without the modified sound of the 1.4 patch, since Xcomutil correct most of the bugs corrected with 1.4 patch.
stjones
Well I want to run the 1.2 without the modified sound of the 1.4 patch, since Xcomutil correct most of the bugs corrected with 1.4 patch. As far as I know, there was no version 1.2 of XCOM, there was only a 1.2 version of UFO (in Europe). If I identify the file incorrectly and patch it, you can generally tell VERY quickly, because it crashes. So, it probably is the same executable as XCOM 1.4 and I am not sure what sound code you have. If you want me to check for sure, you would have to e-mail geoscape.exe to me and let me compare it to what I have.
fabre
Email sent. If it is a 1.4 version how can I identify a 1.2 version?
stjones
Email sent. If it is a 1.4 version how can I identify a 1.2 version?I don't know how to identify a XCOM 1.2 version. The GEOSCAPE.EXE that you sent is IDENTICAL to the one from version 1.4. There are probably some differences in the other files, probably TACTICAL.EXE, but nothing critical to the operation of XcomUtil. Although I have purchased many different versions of XCOM, I have only been keeping copies of the unique GEOSCAPE.EXE files that people have sent me for my comparisons. fabre
Finally managed to get my hands on a 1.2 version, and it is properly recognized by xcomutil 9.5.
