I'm Starting To Figure Out Why Xcom3 Doesn't Work

So, when I tried all the things I could think up I tried to open the .exe with "run as.." Anyhoo, it says:

 

W:\xcom\xcom3\xcomapoc.exe

C:\Docume~1\eppu\locals~1\temp. A temporary file needed for initialization could not be created or could not be writen to. Make sure taht the directory path exists, and disk space is available. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.

 

So... I tried to do some detective work but it was no good.. anyone have anything on this? Warcraft 2 (and other oldies I bet) give the same error message.

Well at least I now know (well i'm 95% sure) that if I can find a solution for this I can get the game to work...

xp pro on 2400+ athlon, 768 ram, geforce fx5200

I think your problem may be with those newer computer components you are using. Sure they are close to top of the line but you have to remember that back in the 90's they weren't writing drivers compatible with any of that.

 

Best thing you could do would be to go grab an older computer install Win 98 or Win 2K and go from there. You will probably be amazed at how many problems go away. All you need is a P3 to run Xcom3 Apoc at a decent speed in real time mode.
