If the thoughts I had in the other thread about MiBs giving you data in order to sometimes be able to land at a terror site just before it happens is a possibility, this mission type would be a nice work around. Traditional terror sites in cities is cool because you know it'll happen on a location that's plainly on the map (if you do get a MiB heads up about it, you can prepare somewhat), whereas this mission above means they can happen anywhere...which is also cool. This one is purely random where the traditional terror site might be a 50/50 split in terms of arriving before the aliens hit a city.

But it would make a nice change, to have terror missions on aircraft. Also, shipping, TFTD style, but with less biodrones and Tasoth. :x

The anti-logarithm of the logarithm of X plus the logarithm of Y equals X times Y, or 10^(logX + logY) = XY

It would be cool to get a message "Flight 348 is under attack by unknown forces, requesting assistance"
The various military forces would respond, but avengers are a little quicker.

There are some old stories about UFOs flying over and electronics being shut down. Alien EMPs could force down aircraft and terror missions could ensue surrounding the mostly undamaged plane. This would be an element that could only realistically manifest in the battlescape on the ground though, and wouldn't be much different from any other terror mission.
...or, I suppose you could be given data on the flight paths of aircraft all around the world, and you could try to reach UFOs before they even come close to anything on the geoscape. Considering the number of aircraft always in flight around the world, this doesn't seem practical to me.
