Well, it started, a 5x5 Apartment Map, Escape Mode, latest beta.

Turn 1:

Escapees:

All is well, we break out of our apartment and head for the cinema next door. Skylord moves with the second group.

Guards:

We secure our position and prepare to take oncoming enemies. Munkeylord shoots himself in the face with an HE Heavy Cannon round. Sustains no damage. Skylord heads to the roof.

Turn 2:

Escapees:

We hear explosives going off, but we don't panic, too far away. Group 1 holds position in their alleyway, and Group 2 head into the alley alongside the cinema.

Guards:

Serge breaks into the fire escape of the cinema, intending to catch whatever film is on. Sucks to be him, there isn't one on. So he waits in the cinema. Laser drilling can be heard.

Turn 3:

Escapees:

Most are in the cinema now, preparing to enter the screen. We're jumped by a Sectoid, but he falls to Grunt's dual plasma burst.

Guards:

Our sectoid is killed by some punk with a plasma rifle. We send troops into the cinema and the alongside alleyway.

Heated Fighting Ensues

Turn 4:

Escapees:

Some guy who looks like Serge jumps us and fires. Misses badly. Some other guy knocks the wall down and pops through next to him. He runs back, finding he doesn't have enough TUs to fire his Plasma Pistol.

Guards:

Firefights start in the cinema and everyone moves to assist.

Turn 5:

Escapees:

Serge is melted by Skylord's Heavy Laser, and Veerle jumps the plasma pistol guy. He gets served a plasma rifle burst at point blank. He dies. People pile into the cinema. Munkeylord shoots at the OTHER Veerle and misses badly. She's hurt, but not killed. Invisible in the thick smoke.

Guards:

Uh... what the Escapees said...

Turn 6: The smoke clears.

Escapees:

Skylord shoots at the now revealed Veerle. Serge pops through the wall too, to try to assist.

Guards:

Veerle spins around and blasts Skylord with her Heavy Plasma, killing him. We win!

Most Valuable: P1: Grunt, 2 Kills

Most Lethal: P2: Bram, 240 Damage

Most Cowardly: P1: Dolny, 0 Kills

I think I missed a couple of turns, but no big deal. Some serious damage was done and taken.

No turn-by-turn on this one I'm afraid... ah well, it was certainly very hectic with lots of explosive related smoke and deaths, in the end it was 2-0, with only Heretic Bob and some other guy surviving.

Results:

Terrain: Storm Mountain ( I

Mode: Deathmatch

P1: Kills: 7 Deaths: 8 Damage Dealt: 1806 Damage Taken: 1485

P2: Kills: 11 Deaths: 10 Damage Dealth: 1839 Damage Taken: 2160

Valuable:

Heretic Bob, P1, 3 kills

Devastating:

Heretic Bob, P1, 798 Damage Dealt

Cowardly:

Serge, P1, 0 Damage Dealt

~~

Never underestimate Heretic Bob! He's a one-man army... not as resourceful as the team 2 Heretic Bob, but nevertheless, he lived to the end of the battle with a few plasma burns and incendiary/explosive scorching. Team 2 Bob picked up a Heavy Cannon from the recently deceased Munkeylord and opened fire. Missed a lot. Team 1 Bob whipped out his Plasma Pistol and kicked serious X-COM behind like the traitor that he was.

Escapees and Guards...a cool, new, fully-fledged gametype for the next iteration of UFO 2000?

hm... maybe already implemented "escape" or "breakthrough" scenario?

2Exo2000:

maybe you could include some screenshots in your posts? they'd look much better...

I was running "Escape" mode on the beta, hence "Escapees" and "Guards" ;)

I'll see what I can do Owl, but sometimes it's a little hectic for screenshot taking, if you catch my drift.
