xalien
The alien landed sonic pulser right under the feet of my soldier wearing ion armor. Even though the under armour has strength 55 and sonic pulser does at least 60 points neither my soldier or armor got as much as a scratch. How? [NKF]
That's the random number generator at work. HE Damage does between 50% and 150% of the listed damage. Sonic pulsers deal 120 HE damages so that means it does between 60 to 180 damage. Ion Armour/Mag. Ion Armour takes 80% HE damage*, so a sonic pulser will deal between 48 - 144 damage to an aquanaut in Ion or Mag Ion Armour. Then you take off the armour plate protection from that value. Taking 55 off the damage range above, we have -7 to 80. Although it's a very small margin, it looks like you took damage on the lower end of the scale. If the grenade wasn't spot on or at least 1 tile away, then you would've used the armour that was facing the blast. If this was your front, you could've knocked off almost all of the damage. - NKF * For more information see: http://www.ufopaedia.org/index.php?title=D...iers_%28TFTD%29 Edited August 3, 2006 by NKF

Bullet-Tooth Tony
NKF, a question about that DM table:What is "electric shock" damage type?
[NKF]
It's the same as the acid-spit attack from UFO. It's used for the Deep-One arcing spit attack. Personally, I've always felt it was a sonic bolt. It looks like a sonic bolt too, and leaves behind green trailing clouds when in water (There are Deep-Ones underwater in T'Leth), but it a completely separate damage type than sonic and has its own damage modifiers. Because it's the Deep One's mentioned having an electrical attack in the usopaedia, we're calling it an electric attack in the damage table. - NKF edit: No, sorry, I think I remember now. If I'm not mistaken, it's called an electical attack in Dave Ellis's Official Strategy Guide for TFTD, which has a list of the damage multipliers.
