  1. While it's a cute idea, it's just not very practical. You're not going to be able to reach a lot of things in time, plus interceptor autonomy is very low until you can build your own spacecraft. I'm also not sure how you figure the north pole is "centrally located" in any strategic relevant way. It's just not.
  2. While it's true the remake doesn't even come close to the original game, I have to say I enjoyed it for a good 80 hours according to steam. So it's decent in it's own right.
  3. Truth! Also, really great editor you've made Jenny. X-com is just a game that will never go out of date. :-) If you were in the mood to make any changes to it, what I would personally like would be a button that sets all living soldiers base attributes to match the soldier "on screen", without adjusting their individual earned attributes. Of course I can do it by hand, but I typically end up just erasing their earned stats by using the Paste function. Hehe, and of course you might not want to go back and tinker with it and that is just fine too. :-) Thanks for making it at all! This functionality is in my to-do list, so when I remake the editor, it'll be an option.
  4. Yes, it would appear you have played too much X-com. The only cure is to play more X-com!
  5. I will add it to my to-do list.
  6. The project isn't dead - just on hold for the time being. I am not happy with many of the design decisions I've made (most notable the interface). At some point I will completely rewrite the editor to be much easier to use. To answer your questions: 1. Changes are not commited until you press the "save" button. So you can change whatever you like and leave the screen, and your game will remain unchanged. That said, once saved every change should be "instant" with the only exceptions being ships/alien stats as this will probably not affect UFOs/aliens already in the game, only newly generated ones. 2. Not sure about this one. According to the UFOpaedia stats are simply increased with difficulty level. It's possible the game takes these values and adds a random integer to it. I have done no testing regarding these values. Perhaps NKF or Zombie can shed more light on this oddity. Good luck!
  7. I've looked into this and it seems that the Steam version actually ships with BOTH the CE/gold EXEs as well as the DOS ones. So the solution is simply: rename or remove the CE EXEs and it should work. Make sure the following files are NOT in your X-com directory: geoscape.exe tactical.exe Ufo Defense.exe The DOS version typically uses the EXEs in the UFOEXE and UFO2EXE directories, so make sure those remain. After that, install XcomUtil again and make sure that you run the SteamSetup.bat file in the XcomUtil directory afterwards. Hope this helps!
  8. I don't think the difficulty setting affects a soldier's recovery time. Also, the superhuman bug is not present in the CE/Gold edition.
  9. I have personally not been able to get the Collector's Edition to work reliably on Windows 7. The few times it does work, it stutters, and the transitions between the geoscape and the air game take several seconds. Very annoying. I'd suggest you try the DOS version, which runs very well in DOSbox. It's all I use these days, especially in combination with XcomUtil.
  10. Looks good, keep up the good work.
  11. I don't expect much from this project at all.
  12. "Funding change" is the increase/decrease of your monthly income - it's not the amount of money you will receive that month post-expenses. Nations that are pleased with your progress tend to increase their funding.
  13. It's a lot more painful than it looks.
  14. You could also use my editor to set the alien's PSI strength/skill to a lower level (or 0 to disable it fully).
  15. What version of the game are you using, and have you tried using both the latest version of my editor as well as a fresh install of the game?
