ShellTox
What do you have to do? I put my login and password in the document but it won't work in the game What document are you talking about? To play online you must download the stable or beta version. If its the first time you play, its better to be the stable you'll find it here http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/ufo2000...27.exe?download Install it, and i advise you to have the UfO Enemy Unknown and Xcom Terror from the Deep games. Then make a team go to lxnt server put the login & pass. After that you'll enter in the server chat, and must wait for other players. Edited December 8, 2005 by ShellTox

Llyr
forum passwort and game password are not the same. if you are in the game, just choose your name and passwort, and log in with those. if your name ist already taken, you will get an error telling you "wrong password" or something alike. if your name is free, then it will be registered and secured with your password, the first time you simply log into the server. you don't need to register anywhere else, and theres for sure no "document" whatsoever, where you put your password in. at least none that i know of edit: found out that the game "remembers" your passwort in the .ini file... if you use autologin. the .ini can surely be regarded as a document, but theres no need to write the pwd in there manually. the game does this for you automatically. Kratos
I should of cleared this question up from the start. What has happened is that there has been an account already created and saved on the server with that username. How to create a new account? Simple, just put some numbers after it and retype a password (but don't forget your password or else you will get this result).

Kratos
Are you using anything besides windows 98/xp? If so, what are you using for an OS? And I realize you have a problem on your hands, but posting crazy things such as 50 '!' doesn't help the situation.

Serge
Maybe there is something blocking connection on port 2000? If you have a firewall, check its setting.
Llyr
try the following: open your ufo2000.ini (the file you postet above) replace the lines: login = Madow2password = ******* with: login = anonymouspassword = (no password) and see if this works. if this does not work, then there most likely is a problem with your connection.as serge mentionend, it could be a problem with your firewall. if you are not connected to internet directly, the firewall that is blocking you could also be installed on your proxy and not on your machine itself. if you can login as anonymous than it should also work with any login name, that hasnt already been taken. (but i don't think this is the case, since you should get a "wrong password" error, instead of an "unable do connect". if you think the problem could be on behalf of your provider, you could try to open a dos-shell (open the start menu of windows, klick on "execute", type in "cmd" and press enter to open a dos-shell) and then inside this black window type "ping lxnt.info". if you get four lines like "Answer from 217.23.156.2: Bytes=32 time=94ms TTL=50", than you should be able to connect to the server (unless a firewall is blocking you). if you get timeouts than theres some problem with the line, and if you get an answer like "error resolving lxnt.info" than theres a problem with your router, and you should contact your provider. if all that doesn't help you, maybe you can give me some additional information?how are you connected to the internet? is your computer part of some network connected to the internet? is this network your schools or any other "public" or your own private network at home? or do you have a dialup-modem or some broadband connection?can you play other games that need direct connections?can you do direct file transfers? (with some instant messenger p. ex.) ah and yes... if you are behind some proxy, you could try to connect with the line http_proxy = disabled changed to http_proxy = auto (but im behind some proxy myself, and don't need that, since its a transparent proxy) edit: @ serge: you don't need port 2000, since you dont need an incoming connection, to connect to the server. (not sure about playing a game now... but you wont need it to connect to the server) this line is only outgoing and can be made theoretically from any local port. ufo does use ports like 1026 or 1029 at my machine, and i guess it will try other ports, if this ports don't work... i guess the firewall is rather blocking by connection type, not allowing any udp or tcp connection, except for http and programs known... Llyr
wherse the execute button?!?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> should be the first one directly above "shut down"...at least i think all windows versions i knwo have it there... i think ^^ but i guess you should try logging in as "anonymous" first... firewall and proxy, what the heck are these?<{POST_SNAPBACK}> er.... uhm... yeah... briefly said, a firewall is a piece of software protecting your pc from unwanted intruders (viruses, hackers, etc.) and also unwanted escapees (dialers, spyware, ms-feedback-agents, etc.) and can also be used to limit a computers access to the internet. a proxy is basically some other computer providing a link to the internet. (that's not totally exact... but should be detailed enough for you) Edited December 10, 2005 by Llyr

Llyr
I got McAfee is that a firewall? No. I didn't find the execute button.I tried logging in as anonymous but still did the same.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> McAfee is a software firm. They do different things...there is an.) McAfee VirusScan Professional.) McAfee Personal Firewall Plus .) McAfee AntiSpyware.) McAfee SpamKiller.) McAfee Privacy Service.) McAfee Internet Security Suite (containing 4 of the above products, including the firewall) so there is an McAfee firewall. but if you've got something from mcafee i neednt neccessarily be the firewall (the virusscan beeing the most common option i think) if you got that firewall, and when it comes to setting up that firewall im sorry but i can't help you, since i never had that firewall, so i just don't know how to use it... but if you have mcafee there needs to be someone who installed in the computer, and set it up. maybe you could ask that someone for help? about the execute menu entry: im sorry for having a german windows... but everthing except the text should look quite similar

Llyr
so you cann communicate with the game server. not too fast, but at least it works.the possible causes of your problem have been narrowed down... we know pretty much that it isnt the game itself and that it isnt your connection. there shouldn't be too many possiblities left with firewall still beeing the most likely. you still didn't answer my questions if you can play any other games online, or do file transfers or similar stuff (or anything else besides surfing via http and using pre-installed programmes). but i guess rather not? chances you have an firewall are pretty high (i wouldn't advise anyone going online without a firewall) so you possibly just need someone who sets up your firewall to permit outgoing udp connections from ufo2000.exe. you shouldn't play around with the firewall yourself if you don't know what you are doing. and i won't be able to help you set up a firewall i don't know via the means of an internet forum... i normally even get close to loosing my mind, whenever im forced to explain stuff via telefone...i can only give you the advice to find someone who knows a bit about computer stuff and who is able to show up at your place and take a look at your firewall.
