Madow
I was about to play a battle until the system detected that my version was a different one to the person I was gonna battle, so I went to UFO2000 web and clicked the latest Beta until it came with an error:(
Serge
I was about to play a battle until the system detected that my version was a different one to the person I was gonna battle, so I went to UFO2000 web and clicked the latest Beta until it came with an error:(Webserver on lxnt.info is still down, so I put the latest beta on http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net webspace (though it is not encouraged by sourceforge, so that might not be a very good idea), just checked the link, it seems to work for me. But seems like we need to think about additional download mirror for beta versions for such cases. PS. SVN server is also down, but at least I have a fresh backup, so there is not need to worry, we just need to wait until everything settles.

Do you want to use it for later builds if lxnt.info is still down?
Serge
Serge, I've placed the latest beta on my site before because someone wanted to download it. Do you want to use it for later builds if lxnt.info is still down?Well, your site is part of xcomufo.com and hosting is paid by someone (from xenocide team?). According to sourceforge statistics, we get 100-150 downloads every day for stable version of ufo2000. If we suppose that we get about the same number of downloads for beta releases, that's about a half of gigabyte traffic each day. I don't know how much xcomufo.com is paying for traffic and what bandwidth limits it has, but considering that xenocide uses bittorrent for downloads itself, network bandwidth really does matter here. So I would not use a download link to your site from http://ufo2000.sourceforge.net unless we get approval from xcomufo admins.
red knight
I dont know either, PM mindstormmaster about it. But he mentioned that he got a couple of hosting companies that are friendly to open source projects to give us backup servers. I dont know yet the details on the agreements with those companies as I couldnt chat with him yet. Seams like we are connecting in different timeframes. I wonder why we don't have more players on the servers then.
[mindstormmaster]
I don't see any problems with hosting downloads. If it's a 3MB file, and you're estimating about 100 downloads a day, it should be fine. We'll let you know if there becomes a problem. Xenocide is distributed by torrent because it is well over 30MB now.

Thanks a lot, we will use xcomufo.com as a backup download mirror if we get such temporary problems with the server in the future.
[mindstormmaster]
We've gotten our backup server provided by VR Hosting up and running. If you need additional support in hosting downloads or mirroring the ufo2k website, let us know.
