Hey all, I am not sure if this is the right place to post or if it's there were any before. I tried the search, but don't see any. And I am not sure if this is okay, but mods can delete them if not it's unwanted :)

These are some of the things that stuck in my head the last two days. I'll get a lot more for sure :)

Sketch for motion detector.

Drew it in the bus so it's a bit shaky

An idea for psionics.
Posted Image
The glove like one was just a sudden idea so the unit look kind of cool when using it :P I put in the elements from the previous psionic amplifier. The round thing near the elbow are supposedly the liquidy purple thing, and the claws are, well, the spikes...

And a couple of ideas for throwies.
Posted ImagePosted Image
(the round thing with title cut off is suppose to be a proximity granade)

These pics are re-post, but I don't now how to move them. Anyway, these are a couple of 3D that I made for fun using Anim8or.

Dude, check out the recruitment center in the main lobby under "Project Xenocide Headquarters" and try applying to the art department. Read the whole application process and I'm sure the team could use your artistic skills.

I like the motion detector, by the way.

The motion detector sketch is probably the best of the collection. Oh, and I already applied. It seems they either didn't receive it or they are taking time to consider.

Anyway, here's the next one. Stun Launcher + Bomb.

That's good to know :)

I have an idea for the alien nav system but haven't put it down on paper yet. We'll see how it turn out :)

Oh and I checked the Art Progress.xls but not sure if it was updated. btw, "Alien food chamber" is spelled incorrectly. Though I don't think it matters :P

Oh, btw I was wondering if Diruptor Shield (X-com Apocalypse) can be implemented? I find it very useful to have :) And, of course, toxic weaponaries as well.

Here's Ideas for it:
Diruptor Shield
"Shield are build from harden light particles(photon). Shield automatically deployed when device detected an object(s) with velocity higher than 15 miles/hour. Detection Range = 2 meter diameter. Shield Range = 1 meter diameter."

Toxic weapon starts from:
Alien Food Chamber (Imagine a big glass hour with nasty blob at bottom and some kind of liquid on top) <Image coming soon>
"Within capsule, a special enzyme are used to break organic materials. We found multiple strands of animal DNA, including human's, within the organic materials. It seems that the aliens can either intake it as a nutrient juice or inject it straight to blood stream."

Alien Food Chamber > Enzyme Analysis
"Surprising results have been found in the enzyme research. The enzyme are able to break ANY organic material. The enzyme itself is similar to human's saliva, however, the most surprising find is another material that was found within the enzyme; Nano size machines. These nano machines apparently help the enzyme to break organic bonds faster and prevent the enzyme from damaging aliens DNA. Although the technology for the nano machines are beyond our knowledge, replication of them are possible."

Enzyme Analysis > Toxic Grenade (Please find a better name...)
"The nano machines were successfully reprogrammed by using electromagnetic wave. The reprogrammed nano machines are now targetting ONLY aliens' Triple Helix DNA. After creating a casing using alien alloys, we are able to create a grenade that will splash these enzymes within a small area with a maximum of three meters radius. We are currently working on better delivery system."

Toxic Grenade > Toxic Gun and Clip A (Yes, together. I find it strange to research a weapon and clip seperately...)
"Creative Text here..." (Sorry, my brain is fried after the writings above.)

I just wanted to make the research of alien facilites to get somewhere. I mean, why did we even research them for? So my ideas are:
Alien Entertainment > "Stimulate pleasure using psionic" > Psiconic Training Facility.
Alien Exam Room + Alien Surgery > Advance MedKit.

Although even with all this talk, I realize it's hard to implement that in the game, and it strays away from XCOM1..... Oh, right. I was thinking The vibro blade from TTFD would be a nice addition too. I have the drawing somewhere. I'll put it up next time.

Edit: Hey! Hey! Lookit here! :P I just started Blender, so it's not completely what I wanted, but YaY! :)

Guess, are you sure you just started using blender and anim8tor? Because you simply can't be on such a "Creative-spree" and still want us to believe you are an amateur :P

We follow your work even if we don't post, we just wait and enjoy :)

Just a favour: In order to free up our global storage space, could you upload your images at ImageShack and post their "direct links" here? It will save all of us (server and users) both bandwidth and space. Thanks!

Keep up the good work ^^

Yes, actually. I think my total time use of Blender is about 12-13 hours and Anim8or about 6. Been using more of Blender now. I took Alias Maya before so 3D design is not really foreign to me :) just learning the damn program is difficult. I can't even "average" the points or "bevel" only one face. It's frustating...

Anyway, I am not an amature to "Creative-spree" being a graphic designer and all :P if keeping track of what I drew, they don't stay. I jump from one thing to another, then when I get a good idea later on, I go back and fix it into previous drawings :)

We follow your work even if we don't post, we just wait and enjoy :)

Good to know :D I really started to think I am alone in this universe(thread :P).

X-News Special Report

Breaking News. We have received a report that there had been an alien invasion to X-Corps' base, X-Base Delta, Canada. It seems that there was an X-Corp Agent did a one man show and managed to kill the Commander of the invasion. A UFO was spotted leaving Earth's atmosphere shortly after. The Agent was nicknamed "Wolverine". The report says that Wolverine was found in the Men's Restroom covered with third degree burns. K.I.A. Current speculation is that Wolverine was trying to evade from an alien grenade explosion, but reach safety a little too late. Wolverine will be awarded the medal of Valor.

X-Corps Scientists reported that they managed to resuscitate the alien commander. It was reported that the alien looked confused, then angrily muttered something before it terminates its own brain function. The scientists were able to translate what the alien's dying words. Um... Interesting. The translation of the angry mutter was, "Stupid Chryssalid!" Chryssalid is the creature we known as "Spawn".

(Hmm?)
News Update! It seems that Wolverine did manage to reach safety on time into the... Women's restroom? (Hey, I thought he was found in men's restroom?) ... Ehem. There seems to be a complication in the report.
(Hmm?)
Oh! There's an eyewitness! And we can connect to her directly by Video Phone.

-------Connected, begining transcript---------
Newscaster: Hello, there. What's your name, miss?
Phoenix: Hello. My call sign is Phoenix.
Newscaster: So did you witness Wolverine's action?
Phoenix: Well, not really.
Newscaster: How so?
Phoenix: I did not see the action itself, but I did saw him jumping into the women restroom.
Newscaster: And how were you able to do that?
Phoenix: I was in the restroom.
Newscaster: Oh, I see. What happened then?
Phoenix: I was surprised, you see. At first I heard shootings outside, and as I was about to check it out, a man bursted into female's restroom. So instinctively, I pushed him away. But after all the psionic training received in the base, my psionic blasted out in self-defense. I see him clearly flying out of the door and into the furnace.
Newscaster: Wait. You mean you were the reason Wolverine was killed?
Phoenix: .... Well, I guess you can say that. Although he had been stalking me for a while now. And he's very annoying and rude most of the time.
Newscaster: Hold on. You mean you are not sad that a member of your team were killed by you?
Phoenix: Yes, I am. I am sad that we lost a good asset to the team. But as a woman, I am glad that he's dead. He oftenly came into female's locker room to take surprise picture. Most of the photos were uploaded to the net and some agents quit because of that. So I guess either way, I say "Good Riddance."
Newscaster: Right... Okay then. Thank you, Miss Phoenix.
-------Connection severed, end transcript---------

We have another report coming in. Oh, we have a message from X-Base Delta's Base Commander. It seems that after our conversation with miss Phoenix, he had been recieving phone calls from a lot of women. They all protested that Wolverine to be awarded with medal of Valor. So he decided not to award him. And here's the quote, "Deadmen don't need medals, anyway."

Huh. Well. That concluded our special news. Thank You and Good Night.

It's so weird to see my concepts being depicted in fanart. I must say that although I realise that you aren't fans of me personally (that would possibly be a sign of some sort of mental illness), and that you're excited about the xenocide project as a whole, it's still quite flattering- especially since the fanart is so good.

Good job. I love the humour.

Here I go an angry brother gonna make his move
But can I buck him in the city so I never lose?
See I'm a get him in the crowd with a couple heavies
And lay the barrel to the ground, hold the gat steady
And now I'm ready for my adversary, talk is cheap
I'm looking for a way to make a plan gonna keep it neat
So don't be telling me to get the non-violent spirit
'cause when I'm violent is the only time the devils hear it
'cause all I want to see is m****f***ing brains hanging

True, there's no double for Startopia so far.

I don't know EOS. I tried downloading it but it's .nib files and i don't know how to use it. But the manual show some interesting graphics for the time :)

The galleries have mostly human tech and I am wondering about the look and feel of an alien facility. However, it does give some insight to improve the motion detector :D Thanks kafros :)

Now that you mention it, I don't think we have anything for alien bases yet, so some concepts for those wouldn't hurt at all. But IMHO, that surgery room looks more human than alien to me. There's a few threads out there with some UFO interior concepts you could check out to see what we've got so far...

That is exactly what I was thinking when I looked at it again. It's too human. I am not sure yet, but if I connect the idea of my alien power source sketches it may seem somewhat more alien. Especially the root-like base and the organic look of the powersource.

Any comments for the illumipods?

my primary problem with the alien stuff is that it looks too much like a retro earth tech with rounded corners and a inside the human body feel. See about moving completely awa from panels and monitors and into holographic displays and controls. Organic and grown doesn't have to mean built like the inside of a body, it can also refer to how the crystals that make up the alien alloy are grown. melded with a more rounded crystal shape we could still get a grown feel without becoming the steriotypical living ships we see in scifi.

Something like this, perhaps? Please don't mind the coloring. As for the shape of the console, I am having a hard time transforming it. Suggestions?

I change the design of my motion detector. After looking at my previous version's motion detector for a while, an obvious question came up, "What if the motion detector is hold in right hand?" A few ideas pop-up, such as rotating screen, etc. But for now, I drew this.
I based it on the specs I found here. Using dual module sensors. Personally, right now I feel it looks very awkward. Like a hand hold fan or something <_< So improved version should be coming soon since it's nagging me....

Here's a try out of proximity grenade :D This build is based on the completed proximity grenade report. Thanks to the CTD team :D
The top nudge is the arming button, which is conviniently level with the outer stripes, which are the stabilizer, and the inner stripes are the piezoelectric proximity detector(PPD for now), and finally the pressure detector. I have a hardtime coloring in individual faces using Blender. (Can someone teach me how?) I imagine the PPD to have a faint red glow.

Here's a 3ds file if anyone wants to edit and texture it. Do whatever you want with it :D

still too human. think through the problem from a different angle. you are coming at it from the idea that a console looks like ____ a holo display looks like ____ therefore add some curves and wahlah alien tech!

if a system could be activated by the mid, would a console be needed? if technology was sufficiently advanced enough would emitters be visible? why would their tech bear resemblance to ours why wouldthey have the same solution for control for stations? maybe thier tech is totaly holographic in that all that is there are pads they stand on and dividers or couches than then project the controls holographics in a hemisphere around the user?

That's deep, son. JK . Hmm. I did think of it that way for a short while, but wasn't sure how much hidden the emitters should be. Okay, I'll just draw as much idea down, and we'll see which one fits better. :)

Alrighty. Here's a bunch of ideas for alien console stations.

My personal favorite is lowest right one. The idea just suddenly struck me. A lightning rod, or psionic rod. Detecting psi and generate hologram according to thought. Or if taking away the hologram, it feeds direct psionic pictures into the brain. Also support multiple users within a certain range.

Ola. I just read the CT for Alien Breeding and get some ideas of it. Here's one. I am not satisfied of it, but at least a small idea.

Should I mention that I have a hard time even to simply follow you?

Concerning the alien navigation, why would the pilot need visuals anyway? Could you try a matrix-style chair? Direct input to the brain and the pilot's output causes the ship to react accordingly. Imagine: Cables at the base of the chair and at its "neck", visible "alien curcuits" inside the chair, maybe a life support system for optimal pilot performance, ........

LOL exactly what I thought after drawing so many holos. And I think if it's a chair, than something that look like the Stargate Atlantis control chair might be good looking. I think it feeds the user a direct input.

Posted Image

Control Chairs are mostly responsible for defense. All the control chairs thusfar encountered were used for launching Ancient Drone Weapons at enemy targets. The number of drones available can only be checked when the chair is powered up. However, Aurora-class battleships do not use control chairs to fire drones.

The chair can also interface with holographic systems, allowing the user to project maps into the air, display information gathered by the sensors, cross-referencing information in the user's memory with existing information in the database, or even compensating maps for continental drift.
...

Found it here

Anyway, I read the X-net entry: Alien Nav system and found out there need to be another 4 aliens for backup, so the chair with somekind of psionic rod might look nice. Although if the ship is escort size, will it still need 5 psionic input to fly? Anyway, I'll get some more chair sketches :D

Edit: Oh jeez, will I get in trouble for posting a direct picture from wiki? or even using the pic at all!

Edit2: Oh yeah, I had been looking for the X-net entry: Laser rifle. There wasn't one and there wasn't a Laser pistol entry either. Did I missed it?
