[stewart]
I've been playing it for a few days now. Anyone else have it? I'd like to comment fully once I've played a full game but for now basically: geoscape is harder, battlescape is easier
Darkhomb
Well pocket pc version is back, I finally found it. I updated the wiki with some info. I made a new thread for this because the other ones with pocket ufo info are talking about UFO Legacy which is for the palm os. This is for anyone with a windows mobile phone or pda. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pocket_UFO The forums are here and they are working with coming out with a new release soon which is great. I have tested this and it works great on my cingular 8125. http://www.pdaground.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=8 The official site is down ATM but you can download it from here. This is freeware so it is not illegal. http://www.pdagold.com/software/detail.asp?s=1138
[stewart]
I've got v1.25 played on a Windows Mobile 5 device (HP rx1950). It's buggy. Is there gonna be an update? Edited May 23, 2007 by stewart
Darkhomb
Yes, I've been reading you have to have both v 1.25 and v1.24 installed at the same time, when you get a bug with one save the game load with the other.. v 1.26 is about to come out and will fix alot of bugs, go to forums here http://www.pdaground.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=8for more info. might be buggy but still like playing a short game edit - i do not agree battlescape is easier it is harder, the very first mission you face psychic attacks and the explosions cover more area and damage more, they get a good shot and i lose 3 guys 2nd turn tough but fun Edited May 23, 2007 by Darkhomb
[stewart]
I find the aliens are a lot less aggressive in battlescape. Are there difficulty levels; I didnt see any controls for them but maybe Im on easy?
Darkhomb
no, I guess I agree they are less agressive but it is easier to die if attacked. they have many changes, weapons are more powerful etc etc.. I havn't encountered any bugs yet but hope 1.26 comes out soon

[stewart]
Well I finished 1.25 I'll have to grab 1.26. The cool thing is that it literally is /pocket/ UFO. I can play at work, in the car the can etc. There are some fixes that the original game needed that are implemented but overall I like the PC version better. I really dont like geoscape. Its flat, the interceptors have too small a range and are too weak and you must have your own UFOs to attack large UFOs. YOur UFOs use a lot of elerium making having your own UFOs impractical. Most the time in geoscape you watch hopelessly as UFOs fly by or outrun you. A lot less ground missions and as such you grow slower due to lack of money. The heavy laser is the best non-missile field weapon in the game. Still I'll keep it on my iPAQ.

[stewart]
I like the Desktop/laptop PC version better, but it is nice have XCOM in my pocket though I must say. Oh anouther annoyance about geoscape, you cant stack interceptors; one-on-one that's it. Oh but here's a good thing, all ground maps are 6x6 d=
[stewart]
I couldnt believe my luck! Cydonia, subterranian base, turn one, look what it gave me. its a .sav file actually, not an .ex_, change the name on the PC first before piping it through activesync sav2.ex_Fetching info... [stewart]
So I installed 1.26. I can throw grenades now YAY! I build my hyperwave decoder and then removed my large radar to make room for my mind shield and what happens. "You got nothing, nothing!" (Robert DeNiro in the Untouchables). Number of UFO detected with hyperwave decoder after removal of large radar . . . . NOUGHT. Oh I'm pissed. All 8 bases built them simulataneously. All 8 bases start building mind shield where the large radar was.
