So i was happily plowing along earlier today and hit a snag in my game....

The aliens sent a small wing of UFOs out and i had my interceptors chasing them around cause i don't have the tech to take out Large craft yet. Luckily the one landed and I was able to send my agents to take it. It took me a while to get through the mission but i eventually made it through. After the mission one of my Interceptors was still following another of the UFOs, it was out of ammo and damaged so i just had it following the UFO to see where it went. The UFO went to land and as soon as it did the game suffered some sort of error which sent me back to the 2nd to last turn of my previous mission. I've tried a lot of things to try to get past this, but it seems that anytime the Interceptor disengages the UFO the game automatically puts me back at the beginning of that turn from my last mission, it even happens when i sent the Interceptor in to get killed by the UFO hoping that would let me skip past it.

I'm at wits end with this. I've reinstalled X-Com and Steam a couple times hoping that would fix it but no joy there. I even removed all the saves from the mission it keeps sending me to thinking maybe it's some glitch that's loading my old save. I also went and dug up my old copy of the game on CD from back in the 90s and installed that hoping i could get it to work on the non-steam version of the game but that just crashes instead of sending me to the mission.

In case it matters i'm runnin Win XP, with the Steam version of X-Com (which i'm pretty sure is just X-Com in DOSBox).

Here's the save if anyone wants to give it a try to see if they can get past it....

My next step is to see if I can find a saved game editor that I can use to fix whatever is wrong...if I can even figure out what's wrong...

well, after hours of desperately trying to get a the saved game editor i found to work i think i found the problem.

The Interceptor that's causing the problem is listed as having an Unknown base, but the editor i'm using doesn't seem to be able to change it...

Anyone got any ideas?

This sounds like the Minimized Interceptor Bug. Saving the game while an Interceptor is en route to another point can cause a crash. A fix would be to find an earlier save, copy UIGLOB.DAT and paste that into your bugged game. That should work. ;)

I must also thank Zombie a lot!

I had the same problem and was worried I would have to dump the current game and start another!
