Suggestions For The Next Version

Hi

I have couple requests/reminds for developers about some changes:

• increasing 'players_count_limit' from 16 (currently) to any bigger - Utto generates extra traffic, also there are often many players online at the tournament's match time - I guess the increasing of 'connections_count_limit' from 32 to bigger would be needed too
  
• increasing the 'username_size_limit' from 16 (currently) to 20-25 - Utto adds 'Utto#' prefix to each login so true available amount is 11 - but I know such long nickname might be too wide to display at the Ufo2000 lobby - I know I could reduce the prefix from 'Utto#' to 'U#' but it won't be so recognizable
  
• adding the Polish translation to the Ufo2000 package - it is available at this forum post

Could you please have a look at these and try to fix them? If you can't install gettext tools, we'll try to think what to do about it (maybe set up some web based translation files verification service). After it is done, it would be nice if you could submit it to bugtracker. By the way, translation files need to be updated with some new strings (this is also handled by gettext tools), so there might be needed some more 'housekeeping' work.

Thanks for increasing the limits

I wasn't aware of those translation's errors. I will update it as soon as possible - let's hope I will do it before the next release

 

Edit: I have a problem with eliminating the first parse error :

msgmerge --update translations/ufo2000-pol.po translations/ufo2000.pot
(null): ufo2000-pol.po:1:2: parse error
(null): found 1 fatal error

The ufo2000-pol.po file strarts in this way:

# UFO2000 - Language-File: PL=Polish

 

Also, I would like to know which gettext tools/commands are useful in Ufo2000 translating and how to use them with the translation.

Should I post the final translation at the bugtracker immediately after eliminating this error or wait until new, extended translation template will be prepared?

 

Edit2: It turned out that it is UTF-8/ANSI encoding problem - I'm using Notepad++ and had to choose 'coding UTF-8 (without BOM)' mode.

Now it looks good :

msgmerge --update ufo2000-pol.po ufo2000.pot
