garret6
Hi im using the research help for the first time with that util and got some questions: can i myself modify the xcomutil.cfg to change so,me of the researches? because that way one could alte rthe research tree and make it mor complex.also: what do the multiplier mean? are they: (ex the gauss tech) x1 for beginner x2 for next difficult x3 next anmd so on? i do want to alter the cfg as follows: for example if i want ion beam acceleratores to need a navigator of some alien race i alter the research days (first column in xcomutil.cfg) to 65,535 (maximum unsigned short int value) the multiplier i leave on 10 (because i dont really know what it does) and all alien help to 0 exceptthe Nav to 99. whis would mean when i capture a navigator the research time is decreased to 655 days., which is kinda doable. what do u guys think about that? any suggestions or informations on how the research help works? thx in advance greez
garret6
i fiddled a lil around with the xcomutil.cfg to alter the scientist/days, but it seems xcomutil doesent extract that information out of the cfg file, as i altered gauss tech to 500 hours with a multiplier of 100 and i still can finis it with 10 scientists in 5 -6 days on superhuman(if that is relevant), just like the standardoption of 50 10 does it mean the table in the cfg is just for checking which alien helps with which project? where does xcomutil gets its infos? i even tried to lower only the multiplier for the medikit to 10 (just like the gauss tech) waiting 2 month and i still havent researched it (210 days with 10 scientists = 21 days with the multiplier x1, because i changed it from 100 to 10) it would be sad if that list is hard coded. If so plz BladeFirelight try to change that and really read out from the config file... it would add a lot of fun if players could alter this research help table. greez
garret6
it seems if i add a addon.txt and insert the research help stuff for TFTD from the ResHlpT.txt and change something there the changes get applied. But only if i run xcusetup again. anyways i still dotn understand the research days and multiplier fully: i changed the gauss to 6500 with a multiplier of 10, and it now takes very long to research with 10 scientists: about 85 days.which is .. kinda strage as it should take 650 days. is there something im missing? how exactly are thos research times calculated?could it be that when multiplying 6500 with 10 i get some overflow? but an unsigned short int can handle up to 65000. any suggestions? greez
