Danzer
Hiya all! I've totally run head first into the deep one terrorist bug, and this is a problem because:None of the available bugfixes i can find run natively under Windows 7 64-bit edition. I know i could wait for a deep one terror or mixed-crew mission to show up, but I've hit the part of the game when they never show up, and missions are getting increasingly more impossible without the Ion Armour. Any good solutions?
[NKF]
I'm half delirious with a cold at the moment, but I seem to recall a discussion that details a trick that can reset the alien missions back to what they were when the game started. I don't remember if this resets the available races as well, but it's still worth a shot. Save your game and also make a backup save . Then start a brand new game and save it in a new slot. Copy the missions.dat file from the new game into your current game and clear whatever enemy subs and missions are currently still on the globe. A similar strategy can be used to reset the research tree if you really messed it up. - NKF
uncy
You can also open the research.dat file in your savegame folder or edit directly the alien containement data. All info is available at ufopaedia (wiki).
Danzer
Alright, I guess the most honest and correct approach would be to edit the ASTORE.DAT file and adding a Deep One Terrorist unit to the containment, or edit the RESEARCH.DAT file, but the exact makeup of the latter file isn't documented. Also, how would I go about this?I've downloaded the hex editor plug-in for notepad++, but I am a bit rusty regarding hex-editing. Ah, never mind, find a util called x-com hack that still worked and is able to add the missing bugger back to the game. Will post more if this doesn't work, I'm currently tied up in a Artefact mission. It's marvelous how a game fifteen years old is STILL so good that I (Or anyone else) am willing to go out of my way to get it to work correctly.
