Sectoid Scientist
Hi, I'm having a problem with "Enemy Unknown Gold Edition". I downloaded the "ldr_XCOM1.exe", "patch.dll" and "musfix.dll" from "www.xcomufo.com" and copied them into the games main directory. Overwriting the existing "ldr_XCOM1.exe" and "musfix.dll". I then created a desktop shortcut for "ldr_XCOM1.exe", when I launch the game from it the game decides to minimize. Every time I restore the game it minimizes again and again. The game will work if I use the "UFO.EXE" but the screen is garbled, so I have to manually disable Direct Draw through DXDiagnostics. Last night I was playing the game for awhile, then it froze on me so I forced a shutdown and went to bed. I'm using WindowsXP Home with SP2 and the latest updates. Sectoid Scientist
I meant to say Service Pack 3. Edit: Problem solved. After looking at this topic I found the problem. I needed to change "MIDI music playback" from "SoundMax Wavetable Synth" to "Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth" and I set it to "Use only default devices". Now I can use "ldr_XCOM1.exe" and "ldr_XCOM2.exe" to launch X-COM1 and 2 and not need to manually disable "DirectDraw". I also don't need to use "Turbo" anymore!!. I can also raise or lower the music too. Edited October 24, 2011 by Sectoid Scientist
