The only sounds we can legally use in Xenocide are royalty-free sounds or custom sounds you/we create ourselves.

but we could use these sounds as examples as what our sounds should be like right?
I'm only partially inactive. :P I can still be reached at cpl.facehugger@gmail.com, and via PM. Preferably the former.

yeh, examples are good.

heck, we could probably rip em, mod em, and no-one would notice... not that we should do anything like that of course :P

anyway theres bound to be loads of royalty free weapons sounds around.

anyone finds any (or anything that might be useful) post it here or whack it in a new thread.
...or something

Took a couple of shots out my bedroom window with a .243

the enclosed area has taken that "boom" sound from it, maybe bass can be added to it.. dunno

Nice way to get rid of pesky neighbours I bet :naughty:

yes, I'm affraid so ^_^

I doubt my neighbours will bother me :D

anyway I made another, used a pissy .22 slide action this time, not sure if it will be useful, but there is always hope.

Just for laughs, I'll break out the 12 gauge tomorrow
then In a few days I'll see if i can put a little tape recorder outside and shoot bullets over it so we can get a "bullet wizzing past" sound.

Hmmm... you're from australia apparently, guess your closest 'neighbours' are about 10 miles further down the road

edit: well, maybe that .22 does not sound like a true alien killer, my water pistol sounds more impressive than that ^_^

(just kidding, of course)

very perceptive j'ordos, yes, I'm an Australian with a 600 acre buffer zone :D

my water pistol sounds more impressive than that

LOL yeah, i don't hold much respect for the .22 either, but for a civilian it's the closest thing to an automatic weapon in this country. Also the cocking sound might be useful

Or you can shoot the tape recorder and get a HIT sound

Nyyperoid LOL, it's tempting, though that does give me another idea.

so here's the 12g, also with an edited version to see if it could sound more appropriate

edit.. and being the d*ckhead that i am, i forgot to post the file

I think they sound good. Now we only need a battlescape to test them in action :)

Ta Nyyperoid ^_^
I wonder if it's possible for the programers to make a fixed demo battlescape that can be used as a sound studio. ^_^ probably got enough on their plate as it is i guess.

How about you turn the sound down on X-COM? ('-' on the keypad, I think)
Then play the sound whenever an agent shoots? :)
Posted Image Haha! I'm now the Supreme Commander of X-COM. Time to kiss Earth goodbye.

My first order of business: Homeless people make cheap rookies, and are great at opening UFO doors. Heck, they're so cheap, I'm going to replace all personel with them!
Secondly: This organisation takes too much money to run. Weapon shipments will come from Siberia from now on. Costly maintenance is to be cut on all facilities. That includes venting.
Thirdly: We have a new colonel. His name is Facehugger, he loves aliens, and I want you all to treat him with respect.
Lastly: I'll be in my condo on an undisclosed island, if you need me. Good day.
