Syntax Error
This game looks very interesting, it seems to be very close to the first Xcom game.

Pherdnut
http://www.ufo-extraterrestrials.com/ and it's supposed to be out in the summer but I think they've been delaying for over a year now so who knows.
Zombie
Well, according to the latest information, UFO: ET is still scheduled for a late summer 2006 release date. Whatever problems they had in the past with the release has been rectified. In the meantime, the folks over at StrategyCore shot off a bunch of questions about the game to Michal Dolezal (who is the managing developer of UFO: ET). You can find that interview here. - Zombie
testarossa
Wow! That does look very good, if it is turn based I'm definately going to have to buy it! I hope that the battle damage is realistic as well. The color pallete is a little too cartoonish for my taste, but thats a small complaint. Their globe doesn't really do it for me like Xenocide's does either. I wonder what the fate of Xenocide will be in the face of this?

I hope that the battle damage is realistic as well.Indeed, it is a full turn-based game. And battle damage should be realistic with fully destructible terrain (take out enough supports and a building will collapse). The color pallete is a little too cartoonish for my taste, but thats a small complaint. Their globe doesn't really do it for me like Xenocide's does either. Well, you have to realize that the battles take place on a planet called Esperanza - not Earth. Hence, the colors are going to be different anyway. Another reason is the fact that they use colored shading to denote the different funding areas. See this pic. I wonder what the fate of Xenocide will be in the face of this?I am always under the impression that any X-COM type game which comes out will only create more interest in the series as a whole - this includes games in development such as Xenocide. Truth be told, UFO: ET is not exactly an X-COM game, but it should come close. If anything, it will temporarily fill that niche in the market until a true remake is released. :wink1: - Zombie

Hence, the colors are going to be different anyway. Another reason is the fact that they use colored shading to denote the different funding areas. See this pic. I was actually talking about the screenshots from the battlescape, which in some scenes have a bunch of neon blues and greens that seem out of place. I want a more naturalistic approach to scenery. I hope you're right about fully destructible terrain, I've always imagined craters from Blaster Bombs and flying debris, collapsing building (like in apocalypse, which I absolutely loved). I was always bugged by the fact that you could knock out the bottom of a building in UFO:EU and the top half would stay in mid air I've only tried one other imitator UFO:Aftermath and was so so dissapointed that I'm skeptical of others but this looks like a winner. SleepyWu
Everytime I'm confused by this screenshot. These aliens holding such BIG guns in ONE(!) hand! Maybe they took some steroids or smth... And postures of human soldiers look not so realistic for me...btw, there is no screenshots where we can see the _destructable_ terrain. I mean, honestly, X-com doesnt look fantastic or anything but its just an awesome game. So don't worry what it looks like.
