ekelmann
I'll add one item to this list: 4. Ability to jump over some hole. Anyone seen TBS with that? It always make my cry to stand on the edge of some roof, with another building roof just two spaces away... So close... So far... It was damn frustrating to get down two stories, run around to the doors, find stairs just to get to that damned roof. It's not only X-Com failure. Even very good at soldier movement routines Silent Storm can't do that. Oops, there's hole in the floor. You have to go one story down and climb through that hole! Frustrating. It's so easy to encode! Jusst "jump" button. You select this and have some kind of targeting: you can chose the spot, where you want jump to. Range depending on your skill / encumberance. You select free spot and voila - some jump animation and you are there! You can even get it more complicated making some random factor: green area (sure you reach there), yellow area (if you're lucky, you might jump that far and catch the brink) and red (everything above; just forget it). I want that!!!
Cpl. Facehugger
Ekelmann, Apocalypse had that option. Except it was automatic.
Airsean
Might be difficult to code (not that I would know) After all, what happens if you fall? Calculating and displaying what happens in such a case would take much more work than just the jump itself.
sir_schwick
2. I think you also be able to set your reaction routine. Fire back. Fire and duck. Duck. This way suppresion fire caused enemies to duck while your troops moved forward.
