How long can i make raids against given building? Ive raided like 4 times in a row the sirus temple and every time there are enemies and loot. Like i didnt even fly off the building... And another thing - my valkurie has cargo pod that is written to have 50 space, yet it saids 300/50 - what does it mean? Do i carry back 50 ot 300 loot? And if 50 how does it chose what to take and what not? Sorry if the question is dull - im just intrested in the small details lke ever ;)

Indeed.

I don't think there's any limit on how many raids you can do against a given organization. I've raided cult of Sirius untill their balance was waaaaay below zero. It seemed to have zero effect on their equipment (not even on their psiclones) The only impression I got through the games I've played is that when you get them below zero they don't have the money to fund raids against you. But I'm not sure about that.

That is possible, one time I had Osiron allied with the Aliens and assaulted my base, after fending off the attackers I sent every ship I had and leveled all their buildings and raided them a couple of times, I sent their balance to very negative numbers, and I believe they never attacked me ever again (I also sent more ships from time to time to destroy their buildings again, so they didn't forget who the man was :D)

About the capacity, dunno, could be a bug.

And yes, you can attack them as much as you want and will always get loot (at least I never found them to have ran out of), the only thing that limits your actions is time, casualties and supplies.

I don't think their bank balance has much of an effect on anything.

I like to select one of the gangs in every campaign and go to war with them. I've pushed them into the negatives, and although they didn't attack my base much, I still kept getting reports like Diablo raids X, and often I'd see them send two suicide flyers against Megapol.

Otherwise, every place you raid will always have fresh new guards, a new supply of equipment magically pulled out of the air and all damage will be repaired. And in the case of the more modular buildings, their modules get shuffled around. The battlescape generator doesn't really take their monetary wealth into consideration, at all.

Only the government is really affected by their funds, as in how much they able to pay you. Otherwise, the senate and the slums and warehouses they own follow the same rules as everyone else.

The infinite capacity thing is a fallback from olden times. I.e. it happened in UFO and TFTD as well. The capacity value that is listed is the maximum upper limit that you yourself can work with. You can cram as much as you like into it, but you won't be able to manually add or remove items from it. You can't do this with cargo and bio modules, but consider your base stores. Try stockpiling a gigantic pile of alien weapons with only one general stores. The game will let you keep everything you gather, but it'll stop you from transferring to this base or purchasing new items at this base.

In short, the number you see is a guideline, not a rule.

@Azrael

I dont think time is actually an issue in this game. It passes so slowly I can make raids in a 10 min. time (turn based) and be back at the base. Casualty too - in the raids i made (6 now) they didnt even managed to scrach my units - not a single hitpoint even (jagged aliance fan - turnbased rules :D ) Not to mention i can remain at the stupid building and raid over and over - it takes me about 3 min. to make one raid. Maybe later in the game its different though - im at the end of my first day so i cant really know a thing. Then the logical question rises - who the heck needs government founding then?

My plan now is raids till i have milions of $ and give every building at least 4 men squad with plane :D :D :D Since i make like 70000 $ in one raid and have piles of weapons it doesnt seem that difficult.... Damn it i was so hoping for a (nearly) perfect game when i saw it first time 3 days ago... Now i play newbie superman difficulty....

By the way, off topic maybe but is there some chance in near future they make another game, like this?

Edit: Actually thats nooby talk - no 10 minutes even - that were seconds i was talking about ROFL . And for some strage reason they RESET even - when i finish my raid its say 12:32:20 but then on the town map its 12:30:10 - back there where i started is - so raids take virtually no time WTF :(

At the start of the game, you may want to hold back on your raids a bit.

See, if you keep up your raids like that, alien tech will jump leaps and bounds, and you may have a real hard time catching up with it. Alien tech is released (or removed) by your score level and the actual changes in tech are made at the end of each week.

Trust me, you do not want to be on the receiving end of entropy launchers and dimension missile launchers in the first month of the game!

To start off, keep your raids low and only get what you need. Don't go overboard. Once you've picked up some good middle-range alien tech, like the personal disrupter shields, you can go wild and do as many raids as you want.

---

The time resets because the battlescape and the cityscape are two separate programs, and the battlescape part doesn't transfer the time over to the cityscape. Look on the bright side, it's not so bad as it is. If they did advance the time, everyone would complain that the entire city would be frozen for the duration of the battle. I mean, it would look peculiar if there was an air battle going on when you entered the battle. Then when you left it, all the ships would be in the same place when you first enterd and all the missiles and bullets would still be in mid-air where you last saw them.

The entire city also updates itself at midnight (and does a major update at the end of the week). It can't update itself while you're still in combat, because you're running the battlescape program which does not handle the affairs of the city.

The game is full of little odd errors like this, but you get used to them by ignoring them.

like what happened to me, entropy launchers, cloaks, and shields at the end of the third week. You do not want to have the aliens get tons of weapons really fast, or they will eat you alive

Why do i need to enter battle if there are ufos or other hostile craft at the same time?I mean does that ever happen? As for raids ill hold off right now B) .Besides i made like 250 000$ that way i dont have anything to buy now :P .

As for the issues i dont blame them in any way. The game is exellent, far more better than i expected. I only get crazy thinking what could happen if someone seriously takes the idea and makes a sequel that plays the same, maybe a bit better visually and perfects the little things like that. Avesome!!! Because since Brood War and Heroes III nothing even close to avesome on the srtrategy scene...

EDIT:

@NKF

Well about the score i just attacked the sirius temple with my valkuries, razed it to ground, toke down the lousy 2 hovercars and the hoverbike that were lunched as defence, and my score got a hefty -1530 points. Now im +300 total again so will there be an advanced allien assult in near future?

EDIT 2: =p beam weapons really sucked BTW... The one hoverbike holded on his own vs valkyries like 2 mins game time AND managed to hit them couple of times too!!! So i sended one more that i reequiped with missles and trying to escape from one, the goodlike hoverbike died... from laser... boo... =p

Well, it is easier to wait until the air skirmishes have ended before you do the missions, but you may suddenly decide to handle the missions right away while an air battle is still going on. I mean, you want to hit any alien drop sites right away to reduce the spread of infiltration around the drop zone.

Mind you, alien infiltration doesn't spread that fast so it's always safe to wait until the air battle is over and deal with the sites one at a time.

The only time you don't have a choice with conducting air battles and raiding at the same time is when you're raiding the alien dimension with a fleet of ships that are not strong enough to fight off all the UFOs. In that sort of situation, you want to zip into the nearest building you can enter and attack it while your defenders are fending for their lives.

Normally, I just wait until I have enough firepower (i.e. medium disrupter beams) to blast the UFOs out of the AD skies, and only once the AD is clear, then I send my troop transport in. But if you're in a hurry,

---

Speaking of the score, I have been able to dumb down the alien tech by reducing my score before, so damaging your score in that way does help.

---

Beam weapons are great. Two of the most poweful ship weapons in the game are beam weapons. The medium (the one you'll be using the most) and large disrupters. They're about as inaccurate as lasers (in practice - not basing this off the accuracy listed in the ufopaedia), but have massive range and pack a massive amount of damage.

Bolter lasers are best used in large masses. If you want to use less ships, use the lineage plasma cannons - they're totally awesome for a weapon that uses ammo and pack a considerable punch, and can be mounted on hoverbikes.

In order to use lasers effectively, attack from medium range and high altitude. This is one thing that I didn't like about Apoc - it is hard to get the vehicles to attack precisely how you want. Just try and about half a screen minimum distance between the UFOs and your vehicles - as it makes it easier for the shots to hit. Like this, you should hit a lot of times, and lasers do have their uses. Personally though, I prefer the 50mm Cannon or whatever it is :D

also, if you ever see no troop transports let the aliens rampage through the city. i had two bombers and two escorts get into the city once, my score dropped 3K points! Not only does your score drop and alien tech drops, but you also get all your enemies to like you more
