I'm running the Windows version of X-COM, with Mok's 2xSAI executable and the original-sound patches. I'm having one problem: the music volume is way too low. (I've also noticed some of the pitch-dropping people mentioned in Mok's original thread). If I use the original executable, the music is fine. Mok mentions that his executable "plays music through DirectMusic". Could this be the problem? If so, is there a way to force it back to standard MIDI? Other than the volume issue, they both sound exactly the same on my computer (Dell Latitude D505 laptop). For the record, I have tried using Mok's exe without the sound patch, and got the same result, so that's not it. I've run dxdiag and looked in the Music tab; I've got four ports, Microsoft Synthesizer, SigmaTel Audio, Microsoft MIDI Mapper [Emulated], and Microsoft GS Wavetable SW Synth [Emulated]. The first two are definitely quieter, but otherwise sound exactly the same. While I'm on the topic, is there any way to use xcomutil with Mok's executables? I love all the timing and graphical issues the 2xSAI exe fixes, but I'd kill for xcomutil's "remember squaddie loadout" function.
