  1. I agree... the extra few hundred points for flying is much better spent on quickly scaling and scouting buildings for snipers on the enemy's side of the map, as opposed to getting a slightly better firing angle. This is even more true when playing in Dawn City where the buildings are so tall that it doesn't matter if you are sniping from 15 levels up or not.
  2. Looks nice! It looks like games using this tileset will go faster than Dawn City.
  3. I downloaded "ufo2000-0.9.1142-src-tar.bz2," which is what you are linked to from the front page, so I thought I would be running 1142? The server battle info page says I am using "UFO2000 0.9 (revision >= 1142)" I played against someone who was running under windows, and the server page said they were running "UFO2000 0.9.1142"...
  4. Personally I think there are enough weapons. Is there a default weaponset that doesn't include explosives, and one that doesn't include smoke? I'm not a fan of explosives.
  5. Hi, I compiled the newest beta for linux (Crunchbang 9), and it works fine for hotseat games. However, when I am playing online multiplayer, everytime my opponent is moving or I am moving the game freezes until whatever is moving has stopped. For example, if I move, I will see my player walk, then there is a pause for however long it took me to move, then the game unfreezes. If it is my opponent's turn, and he is in my line of sight, his units sort of skip and stutter along the screen, rather than moving continuously. I can't scroll or do anything while these pauses occur. The game doesn't crash, but the freezes interfere with my ability to observe my opponent's movement. Also, I never had this problem running 1062 and 1086 under windows XP.
  6. I tried signing up; the registration form keeps asking me to fill in my country flag, but I don't see anything to let me choose my country flag...
  7. No complaints from me =) Also I don't know if you mentioned on this thread, but the client should be the one choosing the map? Here's a suggestion for phase B. You could choose the top two from each group, and have single elimination (tree). Group A place 1 vs Group B place 2; Group B place 1 vs Group A place 2. The first place person gets to choose whether they want client or server. The winners play off in the championship match.
  8. Questions: Is there a single Dawn City map for the entire tournament? If not, who picks the map? And we are supposed to register a new name on this site with a [T]?
  9. do explosions still go through walls?
  10. Yeah there's some crap there. How would one go about putting this in the game?
  11. http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=242027773 Documentation thread. There was work done on it this summer =)
  12. owen_pierce +AT+ hotmail dot com =D
  13. extracted from floater.pck in xcom1 + photoshop. crouchingfloater.zip
  14. I think if you reduced the throwing strength of floaters (by 90%) , people would stop using them as B-52s. Personally I would rather see that than reducing their visibility to 45 degrees since I usually play no explosives, but oh well. I think a good tactic is to get behind the enemy as fast as possible, while creating a diversion in front of him on the opposite corner of the map.
