  1. Hi all, for those not in the know, UFO AI is an open source fan-made game built in the spirit of the old X-com games, and they're up to version 2.4 now. This doesn't mean much to you guys, but they've been progressing in 0.1 increments, so at this time 2.4 is already pretty polished in terms of game mechanics, gameplay, graphics and stability. It's also uploaded as a playable "demo" (which is pretty much the real thing except with a premature ending at present), and pretty dang enjoyable. Work on it is still ongoing, and they have a pretty good team, and a clear plan and direction. The remaining work centers largely on finishing the plot (playable up to about 50%), additional map making, implementation of more advanced features, and making as many gamers happy as possible by incorporating the better suggestions on their forum. You can see the work they've done, and check out their screenshots as well as download the playable "demo" game at http://ufoai.org There's also a facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/ufoai - please like it if you... like it!
  2. for those who are interested... in three parts. I hope the guys at xcomufo.com can use it Currently working on the Apocpedia which seems to have stalled; using most of the files downloaded from xcomufo.com and adding my own screenshots for the "organisations" page. Converting everything into html pages with links is a right pain. It should be ready soon but will be a really, really big download. Any way for me to upload it, without having the 2 MB cap? USOPaedia.part1.rar USOPaedia.part2.rar USOPaedia.part3.rar
  3. oops the directory name is \SCENARIO and not \SCENARIOS apologies
  4. oops the directory should be \scenario and not \scenarios. and i just found a similar post on HOTU so I guess I wasn't the first to figure it out
  5. I only had this problem after installing the SVGA patch. before installing the patch the pallete appears fine for me, but sometimes in-game I get graphic corruption which clears when i move my mouse around the corrupted area
  6. I've been facing the infamous "black screen" bug, just after the "don't get hurt!" poster when trying to start a mission, with both the dos and the collector's edition of Xcom apocalypse. This after solving ALL the other bugs and getting the game up and running with decent 16-bit music (SB AWE 32 settings, 220, IRQ 7, DMA 5 -- you have to custom tweak the ini files for vdmsound to get it running like this) Anyway after two weeks I finally gave up and tried dosbox today. no go, same problem, but on the loading screen i noticed many error codes about being unable to create \scenarios\filename so I made a \SCENARIOS subdirectory in my apocalypse game directory and the game now works flawlessly, except for occasional graphic corruption on mouse movement which does not impact on gameplay. (if anyone knows why i'm getting the latter -- with or without svga patch -- please feel free to comment)
