If you rename the fix to patch.exe then you're gonna have to use the alternative launcher.exe which is posted here http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?sh...st&p=128116

Before doing any beta testing or whatever you wanna call it, I'd like to ask the million dollar question that someone else asked in another thread: are you gonna release any time soon musicpatch in compatibility with XComUtil (or someone else if not spymaster, do the dirty job)? What's the big deal here you'd ask; we got tactical.exe and geoscape.exe instead of "UFO defense.exe" AND we launch the game with RunXComW.bat, again instead of "UFO defense.exe". If no kind man wanders these lands to accomplish such an easy task (don't look at me), then who is that "Abram" guy and would HE be kind enough to share his 'so called better' patch? If not him, someone else? Someone who likes MP3s better than midis? Someone that likes his bugs fixed, his mp3s playable, his graphics non-garbled, his resolution high? Ok, I'm asking too much, I'm just starting the game and I'd love all the best possible options available... (ok yeah, that heart attack again that reminds me THIS IS WHY i never got the chance to actually PLAY morrowind after 6 months of downloading and installing and testing mods... damn perfectionism). First of all I'd like to thank everyone for all their help, I've been reading, what now, has it been over 4 hrs? Ok so I woke up one day and said to myself, damn I have to play x-com, it's 2007 already! So yeah, after so many years. almost decades you'd think, I got myself a copy (original i might add) of the collection. Yeah yeah my pc's so old that can barely handle morrowind's graphics in low qual. Anyway I really don't care cause Tex Murphy has been keeping me company lately and now it's strategy time! Enough with the intro, I greet thee cyberpunks and tech-heads. I got here by pure coincidence as I didn't find almost anything in the gamespy x-com planet and fileplanet but the game wouldnt run. So ok long story short, I got here, picked up the essential fodders patch and thought I'd try this one for starters. So promising, fixed the time sync (dunno anything about the gamepay, I'm just startin' you know?) but the game was (1) awfully slow when changing resolution (that's a pity cause I loved the filters...), and when I didn't, I really hated that (2) big black space in the bottom that so many ppl are shouting about. And I'm checkin all the threads and all the posts and I notice that we're not gonna see any more updates, so it's time for me to check for other patches that would do the job, so sadly I uninstall this one. I dunno where to look exactly (for higher resolution, combined with fodders and bug fixes AND mp3 compatibility) but I'm covering the basics. C U in another thread or here if anything comes to mind, cause now I'm really really tired...
