  1. i just found out about this game and i don`t know what to say. I`m having negative fealings towards an FPS... There are so many out there right now.. It doesn`t look good for the series.
  2. I like! Having a couple of preds on Top of the buildings cloaked and waiting for their pray. And with their mask detecting those damn serpents, just lock, charge, aim and boom! Plasma Cannon! When the hunt is over, get rewarded from the If the hunt fails... well the last Pred makes sure that no one leaves the battlefield alive... Skyranger is lost but at least, all serpents died. voila!
  3. Hey all, After reading again the Alliance & Genesis forums and looking at some pictures, i tried a small search on those titles. I don't know what i searched for after but i stumbled on this site http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/45797 I found it interesting: Specially at the bottom of the article(the Update part). Seems Take2 Interactive took over X-Com in 2005. I don't know if we should hope for something. One thing for sure is that Take2 makes good games
  4. nice clip! just one quick question: is it normal that it's slow on the battle field ?
  5. hey count me in Name: SmaSh Gender: Male Role: anything
  6. It looks great, in what language are you coding this? Keep up the nice work
  7. I restarted playing TFTD yesterday and i continued the game today. Terror Mission : Tokyo Difficulty : Veteran Day/Night :Day So i started this terror mission, worried a bit because it's still early in game( End of March, 1st year). I had 6 Sonic Pistols with 24 clips on board.(i know it's alot ) Once it started, ended the turn right away( they have full TU ). Once it got back to me, i opened the door and spotted a Calcinite, killed it and was woundering who usually raids with Calcinites. I end the turn, once it gets back to me, i redo the same thing, Aquatoid spotted, and got killed. I end the turn, and again, reopen the door, i spot an other Calcinite. I kill it and repeat the same thing. Now my turn, i take one step outside and i spot an alien. I killed it and walked back in. I kept doing this trick and it really worked here. This Triton was an Alien Magnet. ROFL Then the trick stopped working, so now i stepped outside and stayed out. End turn, nothing happened. Took some steps further... Aquatoid spotted: It was unarmed. killed it right away. Then i went out with 2 more soldiers. I ended a couple of turns . an other Aquatoid was spotted and it was also uanrmed. I killed it. I wasn't really far away of my Triton . I got close to a house and a Calcinite started to wander in and out of it. i had one soldier there and killed it. Last Alien (Calcinite) was found stuck behind a table inside a house. It was very close to an Aquatoid that i didn't recall killing cause it was behind the Triton. I was surprised seeing it there. Total : 7 Calcinites killed and 7 out of 8 Aquatoids killed. I somehow got 1 alive on that mission. It was finally the Alien that i didn't recall killing. I did notice 2 squares away of that alien, a Human laying there. So he probably stunned the Human and took a nap in the same time . Well.. that alien was a squad leader
  8. Wumu, No i shouldn't be the only one to try to help. I'm sorry i took time to reply to you. I've been busy lately with work and renewing the passport cause I'll be traveling in a week. To be honest with you, this NTDVM thing is complicated. I tried to Google it, some ppl say that it can be fixed by replacing the config.sys and autoexec.bat From here i do not trust this source cause those 2 files are important. there are alot of ppl having this problem. What i understood from the NTVDM is that it is some kind of a DOS emulator. i would suggest you to google "The NTVDM CPU has encountered an illegal instruction." I personally don't have a solution for this NTDVM, i thought it would be possible to bypass it but it jams on cmd.exe . Try the following plz" Edit the .bat file ( that you use to run the game) and add SKIP after xcomapoc.exe see what it gives. i'll get backsoon, im at work now. We need to fix this ntvdm thing and im pretty sure everything would work.
  9. I only mentioned that I'm 2 days late because sometimes, people ask their questions and never return to verify( not pointing it at you) You stated previously that you got the version off of an abandonware site, i don't know if that version is runnable on those OS's. I'll need to test that version myself to see EDIT: Ok this Version is quite simple. I just ran the .bat and i got a black screen I created a shortcut of this .bat file, tried to run it and got the same. Right clicked on the shortcut of the .bat file, clicked on properties, went to the options Tab, set it on Full screen. I then went on the compatibility tab, Set it on Win95(that is optional since the game worked with/without compatibility) The thread that i wrote in the sticky has the same batch file.. I guess the abandonware site stole that from me i have the -skip as extra after xcomapoc.exe My hardware: AMD 64 4600+ 2gb ram, GForce 7600GT, OS: WinXPRO SP2
  10. i will attempt to do this with the free time that i have lately, i started reading the description of each org and what it does. i'll maybe split them into groups for example, political(Technocrats came to my mind) gangs( Psyke,Diablo and an other one) and see if i can answer my own question
  11. I would like to know if any of you guys have a list of what do the organisations give in return when they are allied to you? I know we can't piss off Transtellar cause they won't let you use their transit system. What about the rest ?
  12. Hello everyone I have tried to run X-com Apocalypse under Windows Vista Ultimate and i was successfull 1st i will start with the important hardware of my laptop 2Ghz dual core Intel CPU 2GBs of RAM 256MB SHARED Intel Graphics accelerator ( not that good but mehh.. its a laptop) --------------------------- I have 2 solutions to make this game run. The 1st solution is the same steps that are in the Sticky thread except that Windows Vista will not run the game at the end The 2nd solution is DosBox. ( I would say it is the best Solution for everyone here ) --------------------------- The 1st solution: Follow the step by step guide that i have written for previous Windows Versions : http://www.xcomufo.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=841 Once all the step are done. Try running SETUP.exe, XCOMAPOC.exe or the .BAT file you created. IF all three works, then count yourself lucky. IF all Three gives you the exact same message : " This system does not support fullscreen mode. Choose ?Close? to terminate the application. " Here is your solution http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/06/27/w...-windows-vista/ When you go to this web page, You will have 2 Workarrounds. I would avise you to take the 2nd workarround which is to Roll back your Video Cards Drivers to SVGA. Follow the steps on how to do it. NOTE: Rolling back your Video Cards Drivers is at your own risk. Be careful; when you do this. The only reason i am giving this warning is because while doing this, my Windows Vista froze( YEs i made Vista freeze! ) After rebooting i saw a difference with the graphics. I got able to run Setup.exe and run the game. ------------------ Solution #2 (Suggested solution) Get Dosbox , install it and run it I will only give you the basic commands. Let's say X-com Apocalypse is in C:\XCOMA In dosbox: Mount c c:\xcoma (This will mount and emulate c:\xcoma under c: ) type: c: (enter) Now it will take you to C:\> but for real, you will be in C:\xcoma folder type: xcomapoc.exe and your game should run Here, your game will run without sound since it is not possible to run SETUP.exe under Dosbox. The only solution that i have to run SETUP.exe is to follow solution 1. Once the configuration is done, reroll your drivers to the original drivers, run dosbox and you will have sound.
  13. Hi WUMU34 I will try to help you with this problem i also had this problem with Windows Vista and i have found a work arround. You will need to roll back your video card Drvers and set it to Standard VGA. By rolling back drivers, your Windows might freeze. It's at your risk here. (Hey it happened with me, Vista froze!) Before rolling back the drivers, try Right clicking on the Desktop- Properties In there, you should be able to set the colors. Try settign it at 16bit and see if it changes. Have a look at this web page. i followed Workarround #2 to make the setup.exe and xcomapoc.exe run. http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/06/27/w...-windows-vista/ Unfortunatly, i reinstalled the drivers and used dosbox. i got no choppy sound, its all smooth. I would also liek to know what version of DosBox you are using ? Latest DosBox sets the CPU Cycles to MAX. it shouldn't cause problems and i doubt the hardware you have is causing the game to be choppy. I'm 2 days late, i hope you get to read this...
  14. probably some bunch of immature ill mannered persons having fun. good thing that the damage was small. *bows to Micah*
