Just to say that I have been scouring the net for a solution for this game on Vista 64 with a Quad Core, and by following the steps above I got it to work - thanks sooo much I still need to play with the turbo settings for optimum play, but I had pretty much all the issues listed here - initially black screen with music, and then inability to intercept UFOs, but now it all works just great - makes me glad I bought my new machine
