  1. Hey guys, also sorry for the even later reply, but this one is, well... kinda important: We finally made it! CONTACT (Tactical Alien Defense Role Playing Game) is available in English, at last! Published, again, by Clockwork Publishing, and distributed here: http://www.drivethrurpg.com/product/185975/CONTACT--Tactical-Alien-Defense-RolePlaying-Game More intel and some pages: http://www.contact-rpg.com/171-con-eng Have fun!
  2. Hey kafros, We'll probably focus our hands-on promotion on Germany, as that's where I am living and working. But we have an international English version ready, so the game will (also, probably!) be distributed through various online PDF retailers. As for the system itself, I can only say that if you liked how xcom worked under the hood, you will probably recognize and like a lot of how Contact works. Action points, reaction fire, stat boosting through exercise, etc, and definitely quite deadly and unforgiving without the right use of tactics. Another thing I'm particularly fond of is a damage system that distinguishes between different damage types. And tons of believable as well as fantastic science fiction weapons and gear. Naturally, actual "realism" isn't attainable in a tabletop role playing game while still keeping it fluid and playable, but we still think we will be the ones to up the bar a few notches when it comes out. Watch the skies around Juli 2011
  3. Almost four years in the works, and now nearing completion and an international release, CONTACT is a game any dedicated X-Commie might want to look at, as the premise of the setting is practically the same as in the first computer game. The game itself is a deep and detailed tabletop role playing game centered around a set of proprietary game mechanics that do not allow only for suspenseful and challenging tactical combat, but also research & development, investigation, overlapping story arcs, as well as a satisfying amount of character development. We should mention that a considerable part of these mechanics have been inspired by classic titles such as Fallout, Jagged Alliance, and of course, XCOM itself. Top that off with an abundant amount of high-quality artwork and background on an original game universe set in the year 2047, and you're all set. Sound interesting? We created a website with more information on the upcoming product at WWW.ContactRPG.com Concepts and Artworks can be viewed here: Rob's DeviantArt profile and here: Anthony's DeviantArt profile Drop us a line and let us know what you think! Just don't ask us about the exact release date, because... well, it's done when it's done
  4. In fact, I do. I've contacted a few e-book retailers, so it should be available really soon. In the meantime, you might want to check out the game's dedicated site: http://www.openkore.de/
  5. Hi folks! A few years ago, I stumbled across the original X-Com in a classic PC game compilation, started playing it, and finally realized I have missed one of the greatest strategy games in computer history... heck, even one of the greatest games ever. It has virtually everything: Hair-raising, suspenseful combat, research, a tech tree, the requirement of economical thinking and an eerie, creepy atmosphere that would put the best x-files episodes to shame. Great stuff! Being an avid Pen&Paper gamer (not weird chatroom stuff) obsessed by creating advanced game mechanics that take a simulational approach to the grim reality of modern combat, I decided to create an RPG with a setting very reminiscent of UFO/X-COM: Near Future, impending doom by alien invasion! Approximately one year later (now!) the project is finished. It has become a pretty fine looking and weighty book, weighing in at 216 pages. Currently looking for the most effective way to publish it. I'll try breaking its features down to you, including any parallels and differences to the PC game from 94'. Here goes: - Proprietary D100 game mechanics - being for a Pen&Paper RPG, they have little in common with X-Com, naturally. Some features, like spending action points in combat, have been implemented, however. - Although an RPG at core, advanced campaign rules allow for base management, implementing nearly all features from X-com, such as selling dead alien bodies on the black market, researching new technologies and building kickass futuristic weapons - 6 alien factions are included in the base book, and their motivations and agendas are a bit more complex than the invaders in x-com. Yet, most of them are clearly up to no good, which ensures lots and lots of conflicts. Yes, we have sectoids. And they still do the probing. - Full weapons and gear lists, including biomodifications. There are lots of guns in this game, and I'm particularly proud of the combat system that puts them to deadly use in a semi-realistic fashion. - Includes a handful of sample characters, ranging from a ultra-tough field agent to a mysterious alien hybrid experiment, with full background stories, stats and equipment. A short story featuring these chars serves as part of the introduction to the game world.
