JOY!! Asus finally fixed my motherboard and returned it to me today. I've got kind of a full schedule though for the next few days, so it might be a bit till I get this monstrosity working again. But I will be continuing FMIX-Com as soon as i get it up and running again. Anyone who wishes to enjoy getting brainsucked and poppered to death, please post your app for me! We need more soldiers to defend the earth. -

I just noted to NRN, I WILL continue this as soon as I can get my computer back up and running...been really busy and getting the run around for my new mobo. Should be good by this weekend though. Sorry about the delay everyone. -
Figured this'd be the place for it...anyone have X-Com crash while in a battle, but instead of the game dying and going to desktop it actually ends the mission with the same debriefing window as your last mission you completed? I was getting messed up in a mission once and the game decided to crash after an alien tossed a grenade that woulda killed like 4 soldiers. It was really nice since i'm playing an ironman game and only save once or twice a month in geoscape. It saved me a few losses and I was preaty happy

I recently started using pistols (The starting ones that most people probably burn in their backyards) a lot more, and i'm loving them! I like to pack on more pistols than rifles these days, using rifles as they seem to be more intended for (110% aimed shot, what?) and using them as sniper rifles. They do 4 points less damage meaning they are good even on superhuman for a bit...and they are very accurate little buggers to be honest. Most troops can get about 30% snap shots for around 10TUs give or take. I have taken to researching motion detectors just to hold off on getting laser weaponry for a while so I can use my AP weapons for a while. Plus, you reaction fire like no bodies business when you have a pistol in hand. Note: Bring extra mags! And grenades

Human with daul Lawpistols (my favorite weapons) with tons of ammo and grenades. Obligatory medkit and a motion scanner. Megapol armor with marsec chest (flight rocks). Dual toxiguns later are fine for aliens. I gota say that I do like j'ordos' idea..i'll have to have him do that in my FMIX once i get my computer fixed

I had a bad one last night playing Superhuman on my laptop. I landed at my first terror site of the game in early Februrary. Right off the bat I say a grey. (Please note my skyranger ramp was litteraly 20 or so tiles from map edge in this battle, and i'm annoyed i forgot to keep the save) Since my HC HE soldier was up front i launched a shell and took him and a wall down, revealing yet another grey...who killed the HC trooper. A few turns later my first 4 soldiers had died without ever leaving the ranger due to about 4 or 5 greys within 20 squares of the ramp wandering around (note, I didn't get very many hits on motion scanner either which was odd) After the LZ behind the ranger was a smoking crater I went to scout and after looking SW on the map it revealed FOUR more greys right next to eachother (i wanted a large rocket or HiEx so bad right then but only had my other HC HE trooper) the soldier fired point blank killing one and wounding another and dieing to reaction fire. Down the way, also, was a cyberdisk just chilling. I moved out 3 of my last 4 soldiers to kill them all, but they ALL got mowed down. I was sitting there with my last rookie who had lowsy stats aside from 41 strength, so he had be designated my HiEx chucker. Since there was no less than 4 greys and a cyberdisk watching my ramp, i proceeded to do what he was best at...chuck HiEx charges down the ramp every other turn till I had killed them all. He suceeded for the most part, killing all the sectoids, and I spent like 20 turns waiting for the disk to get close (motion scanners rock) but it never came. So the lone rookie picked up a rocket launcher and a spare rocket and stepped off. The stupid disk was sitting in the exact same spot he had been the whole mission. One large rocket later and my lone rookie made it back home with half his health and a negative score only slightly better than if the site had been ignored I was pleased with myslef that I came back and won the mission with one guy, but the celebration was short lived since a few days later a sectoid battleship attacked my base and CREAMED me...i've never been beaten that bad in a base defense in my life... Oh well, new Superhuman game for me

Strange, I don't really see ammo as expensive, just limited. I'd use a lot more bullets if you could access more of it in the early weeks...but only having access to a few dozen lawpistol mags doesn't allow you to utilize such a great weapon as much as you (read: I) might like to.

Heh...true that Zombie, i'll explain. I just love it enough that I don't feel the need to explain myself...but in the spirit of swaying my fellow Heavy Plasma lovers (blasphemers that must be converted! ) i'll explain. As i've said in a few posts prior, I dont like explosives as much as most people, as i'm a loot freak. Every heavy plasma that is blowed up is a hundred something grand going "up in smoke" and not in a good way Because of this i've always prefered the "sniper" approach to combat. Spotting with a rookie and using my 60/70+ accuracy soldier to land a bullet/laser beam between the aliens eyes (pre-super soldiers with 80-100 accuracy) I also like dropping the aliens with one hit, so the power of the heavy laser is nice (granted, w/o XcomUtil it's not quite as powerful) for such tasks. While the laser beam that the Heavy Laser fires is almost identical in look to that of the pistol and rifle, knowing it came from a honking brick of a weapon gives the beam more "oomph" to me. While a Heavy Plasma ball feels exactly the same as a plasma rifle or pistol ball. Side note here, I love the plasma rifle for it's snap shot precision and use it more than HPs. While I love the Heavy Laser, I still use it as a specialty weapon giving it to two or three squad members that stay back and snipe away. It basically replaces the heavy cannon when I get it as the HL is essentialy it's laser analog, but you still lose the HE/IN abilities of the HC...but I happen to be one of the few people who like shooting HC AP ammo as it gives a similar feel as firing off a HL; big powerful shot that kicks major arse when it hits something. If you don't use the Heavy Laser, give it a try how i've explained it. Hang back and snipe from long range with one of your most accurate soldiers. If you still don't like it, then get XcomUtil and use enhanced laser weapons as it sets the HL's stats to what they rightfully should be (a heavy hitting sniper rifle...er cannon) and if you still don't like it you can go back to your silly HP cheese sauce And by the way, the enhanced HL does 120 damage, thusly it can breach inner UFO walls like the HP though it does lack autofire though the HP should as well.

That's a preaty good idea NKF. I'll have to implement something like that with so few people active and interested at the moment. -

Ya NRN, you got dibs of course. And yes we do have 16 agents, 13 in the health screenshot up above. Since then i've hired 2 droids and a hybrid I believe (training as early as you can). No one has died as of yet, just got really hurt heh. Happy new years to all. PS - A few days ago my computer just stopped working. It turns on and everything get's power, but no beep or anything like that. After some troubleshooting I'm relatively certain my motherboard died on me. I'm in the process of checking with newegg about the warranty and whatnot, so as soon as i can get my computer running again (or find another computer with SATA that i can borrow) i'll continue the game. At least I can play EU on my laptop (Apoc won't run on it for some stupid reason...as in the messed up and wierded out colors) PSS - Makes me thing that FMIX are cursed, and my mobo fried because I started one up heh. I just hope the HD is fine...and that I don't have to drop another 200 bucks for a new mobo >_< -

Research project completed: Advanced Biochemistry Laboratory. Research data attached: Head Biochemist - "Our study of the live multiworm has given us a few insights into the alien genome and hints at a more complex lifecycle. Therefore research will focus on what we believe to be the proper lifecycle of the alien menace...starting with the egg-like lifeform that seems to be the start. Command concurs. Initiating research project: Multiworm Egg Autopsy. Important datafile received. Displaying government issued document: Funding. "Good job team. We have been in business for an entire week and the government things we are doing a good enough job to increase our funding...which is pennies compared to what they make but we'll have to make do. Everyone get some rest, could be a busy day tomorrow." Financial information for X-Com. ------------------------------------------------- First week done. Sadly though, our second week is rather lackluster in new equipment. Not a single powersword for our resident psychotic robot. Only 2 Marsec Body armors. 2 Plasma guns...nothing really to get excited about. Guess some cult raids might be in order in the next day or so if no aliens come a knocken. -

Commencing research project: Multiworm. Day 5 goes by without a hitch, another day for the troops to heal up and get some rest since we are short on manpower right now. X-Com spy network reports possible alien activity in the vicinity of Psyke owned structures. Recommend immediate investigation. "Alright troops you've had some rest, now it's back to work. We have reported alien activity in Psyke's turf. We are sending you to investigate and neutralize any aliens in the area. Standard teams." Kell - "Watch the fire here j'ordos, we don't want the whole building falling on our heads..." j'ordos - "Hey! I'm the sergeant here. I decide what building falls on who's head." Kell - "..." j'ordos - "Look at that. Psyke should really lay off the drugs...they can't even come up with original names for their kids...or least ones that are slightly different." NKF - Anthropod detected. Engaging. Dual stun grapples unload into the blue bastards. Downing one, and shortly a second. NKF - Removing threat: Brainsucker Pod. The android swipes up the unhatched pods and places them safely in his backpack. RustedSoul - "Wow, the rust'o'matic has done something useful for once. We should give him a met...aw nevermind he's got enough." NKF - Area secure. Proceeding to floor: three. Riding the lift to the third floor, NKF finds another pair of anthropods waiting to be stunned by a flurry of stun bullets! RustedSoul - "Hey! One of the stunned barnies is making a break for it!" RustedSoul is forced to chase an anthropod down the lift and into the courtyard, putting enough bullets into it to re-stun the fleeing alien. (All 4 anthropods were captured alive thanks to NKF...like it matters at all.) "Good work team, short and sweet...and no injuries to boot. Get back to base and let's see what the aliens do next." Research completed: Multiworm. A new research topic has been suggested by Biochemistry department: Advanced Biochemistry Laboratory. Initiating research project: Advanced Biochemistry Laboratory. Alert: Illegal flier detected. A hoverbike and hovercar launch, owned by Diablo, and proceed to the slums I had just cleared. They proceeded to wage a small war with Psyke that lasted quite a while. Here's some screenys of the carnage! "Now that that little furball is over, we can train the rest of the day. Good thing we don't get blamed for those clowns blowing each other up." ----------------------------------------------------------------- Sped through two days rather quickly with a mission i really didn't have to even do (the infiltration levels were up and down each day since like day 3 in psyke so they woulda died down on their own). I'm really just trying to get through to week's end, one more day to go. It's almost certain the aliens will attack tomorrow before week out. I'll probably station my ships near the gates and try to keep them from dropping anything. I want some more money/gear to deal with them on the ground...and I don't like to raid/sell during week one since it'll drop prices sooner than I like I might not be able to do day 7 till saturday or sunday if all goes according to plan...hope to get more interest by then so we can have some larger teams go out and really cause some carnage! -

Heh...I thought it was hilarious at the time. I heard the Inc round go off but it didn't travel to the target. So I looked at you and since fire doesn't render on slopes, you were sitting there alone on fire. I don't know if running around helps, I think so personally...either way I had you run around for my own amusement if nothing else Either way, I can't do much with so few soldiers. Since you're all hurt, any suggestions you guys would like me to try? You're in the shop NRN, so is NKF still as one day was enough to fix him. I bought a new droid today too. Getting quite a few this time around. -

Alien incursion in progress. "Tell all X-Com craft to hold position. We already have a sample of these ships, they seem to be drone craft with no crew on board aside from the invasion teams they drop. Command agrees that we do not want to risk needless damage to the city over such a minimal threat. We'll mop up on the ground, all troops get ready for cleansing operations." Order relayed. All X-Com craft are standing down to yellow status. The standard force of 3 scouts and 2 probes fly about and again only 2 or the 3 scouts drop their payload...one in a school (yay) and the other in a marsec flyer factory. Alien craft have withdrawn from Mega Primus airspace. "Alright troops, let's get the school first. Standard teams." I totally forgot to get any screenys of this fight, not even the score...it didn't go great either. NKF, RustedSoul, and Kell suffered quite a bit of damage from those cursed Multiworms' acid. No one died though Here is the health status of our troops after the school mission: "Alright, j'ordos and Azrael. Take our new android NRN_R_Sumo mark 1 to the flyer factory...we don't need to lose access to replacement aircraft at a time like this." Azrael - "You're kidding me? Sending us with a droid that won't even don armor? This is gunna be heck" NRN - NRN_R_Sumo mark 1 ready for deployment command. Azrael - "Not without armor you bucket of bolts!" j'ordos - "Don't complain Azrael, he'll draw fire away form us after all, if less than NFK would...Besides, he prob won't mind much if I light him on fire." Team arrived at flyer factory, commencing sweep...alien life forms detected. Deploying troops. NRN - Movement detected bellow our current possition. j'ordos - "Let's go, one of the access ramps should be just over here." Azrael - "Indeed, and we got company at the bottom of it too." j'ordos - "Burn suckers!" In the ensuing firefight that took quite a while, NRN was severly wounded by a spitter(!!) and was forced to retreat without doing anything meaningful o_O Azrael - "Told you that android would be a liability..." j'ordos - "Shudup and shoot!" Azrael - "Roger that...j'ordos! j'ordos - "Oh my god! AHHHHHH!" Azrael - "That was freakin' hillarious! Mabie that'll learn you to burn everything down." j'ordos - "Not likely. Die alien scum!" Azrael - "Crap, here comes the quick little worms, get over here j'ordos! Fire in the hole!" j'ordos - "You almost blew me up!" Azrael - "Woulda been better than getting eatin alive by earthworms..." j'ordos - "Now that i'm Sergeant, I order you not to blow me up." Azrael - "Ok, just like you're consistently ordered NOT to burn down the house." j'ordos actually got gnawed on a bit by a hyperworm and lost almost half his health, so we might not see any flaming combat for a day. "Good work troops, get some rest. No telling what the aliens will throw at us tomorrow." ------------------------------------------------------ I could really use more recruits, as almost everyone is hurt but Azrael. I'll just have to use other old profiles or wait till more people decided to join in on the fun...
