  1. The sound of a camera flash charging up! (subtely altered of course) This is what i had planned for mine.
  2. i'm thinking very deep throaty growls for this one, since its such a chunky thing. though i may have it whine when it gets killed any thoughts or ideas you guys have, then let em loose if anyone has samples of dogs/big cats growling/snarling on a sample CD could they post the best ones here please
  3. i'm gonna go for the Raptor voice sounds, "getting wounded, death, biting" i'm done with the laser for now (though probably not forever)
  4. nice one Raven, but could you put a simple txt version up? i dont have Word, and Wordpad crashes when i try to open it
  5. well yeh, i think real lasers just make a high pitched noise (mostlly out of hearing range) and a click when they first activate... not much fun to listen to the origional plan (which i forgot) was to make one noise for the laser itself and several hit sounds depending on the material it hit. sorting out some hit sounds could help. it probably wouldn't but im choosing to believe that it would which is where the electricity sound comes in. i mean the sound electricity makes is caused by the air being torn apart by the passage of the electricity.
  6. i quite like this, the way the tracks build onto each other brings up the anticipation. the military style snares are good too. the second set of drums need to be more impressive though, maybe some reverb or something, and the bass dum-dum-dum-dum sounds a bit naff. could be good with some work
  7. and here they are in .ogg only 50k rather than 250k if you hate them please say so -_- Lasers_in_ogg.zip
  8. whats sounds are planned for the alien baddies? i'm more talking about definately planned rather than "would be nice", though if there's no definate plans feel free to put suggestions here obviously we have: walking/slithering/flying death sounds (probably multipul) do we want them makin noises every so often when they are just standing around? suggestions for how different aliens should sound would be nice. i'll probably sort out the snakeman movement tonight, just a rythmic sandpaper shhh sound would be alright, i think a slimey sound would be too cheezy
  9. alrighty, done something for the pistol, gave the rifle more bite, and normalized the cannon sound. all 3 are here. what was next on the list... Laser_all_3.zip
  10. for people working on sounds though its best to compress them at the last moment. if you have to edit them for some reason (eg. they aren't normalized ) then recompress them you loose alot of quality. saying that, i should probably make ogg versions to post since they're so small. those sounds are pretty good anyway.
  11. ok, modified it for the laser cannon. i have a feeling the pistol is going to be a pain... edit: latest versions of cannon rifle and pistol below. i also think that the attatchment was 32-bit... please feel free to shoot me if i upload 32-bit sounds, they won't play on most things. (or at least let me know)
  12. well... it'd be kind of cool for us to have the authors reading their own text, but whether or not you have a good reading voice is more of a concern
  13. i think a short summery would encorage people to read more. "hey, that sounds interesting..." I know with warcraft (2?) i would always begin listening to the guy reading the mission, then turn him off, cus i didnt have all day to listen to him...
  14. i like the extended barrel. there should be something to make it stand out more from an ordinary pistol, and i think thats it.
  15. suprisingly; speech doesnt loose that much from being compressed compared to music as it generaly covers a much smaller spectrum of sounds. i'd say a quick overveiw being spoken would suit us best on all counts. i think it would be fine having all of them being read by one person, but being split into divisions would sound better (you'd kind of get to know them, "oh here comes the wepons expert..")
