I remember that you must put addional mapsections in the executable file. I did this when I made new Cydonia maps. I do not remember the offset, but you can search for the file inside the exe. Cheers

Hi Kyrup, I am using IDA as you recommended with the idc file... I also follow the tutorial (also very hard for me to understand). I love the diagrams and I found some addresses regarding changes to the game. I still cannot figure out how to actually DO something If you ever have the time could you please post how you implement 1 change, It would mean the world to me. Uncy

Hehe, I know what you mean now, what is that movie called btw? I guess you can change the pics, but it won't matter since your units will be able to see them anyway, even if you don't... I gotta think about this one, but is a good idea.
You can also open the research.dat file in your savegame folder or edit directly the alien containement data. All info is available at ufopaedia (wiki).
Hmm, I was thinking about a research that would increase night vision... Thermal or infra-red is not a bad idea. Invisibility seems a bit harder, since "vision range" data for aliens are loaded when the mission starts, and I cannot so far modify process memory... So far only Seb can do pretty much everything with the game memory. What do you think about playing as Sectoid? or do you just prefer XCom?
I have the same kind of taste for UFO TFTD and EU. I have been "working" on an expansion for the UFO EU version, I use the tactical.exe from the original game, but the Geoscape is a new program made in VB. I want to expand the game to be able to play in Mars with XCom and Aliens... So far I have almost finished the game, althought I lack the 3D MarSphere, I need to polish it and correct many bugs... If you want I can send you pictures and maybe you can add some of your ideas.
i think his problem will continue, I remember reading about the 2% chance to retailiate, but this did not work in fast CPU's since it uses an intern clock, so that the 2% chance will add up to something like 200% chance everytime you down an UFO. There is no way to plaw like that
I can't be sure, but you need coverage for UFO detection. That would mean at least 2 bases far enough to give you a good coverage. Doing this you will prevent aliens from "conquering" countries. On the other hand, if you are very good at this game, I guess you can go through the game with only 1 base and destroy the Cydonian base...
