Hayashi
I've had several ufo recovery missions now where I've deliberately set out to capture alien navigators, engineers & medics. When the mission ends the debrief screen tells me that I've successfully captured a live alien, But when I check with the transfer screen in the base menu, the capyured aliens don't appear for transfer. This is a potential game stopper as I've yet to capture a live alien commander from a base, without which I can't finish the game.Any ideas? Zombie
Oldblue153 said: ....errr I'm assuming of course you have alien containment at the said base That's a good point. On more than one occasion I went on a mission and captured a few aliens, and when I got back to base...nothing. Though a warning like "Alien is not recovered due to no AC present" should come up before you get back to the Geoscape. - Zombie
Hayashi
Yes, all bases have alien containment facilities,So you're saying this is because of the 80 item limit?

Experiment a bit when you've got one stunned and reset to blow up some bodies and equipment to see. Ive also heard that alien containment can be filled although i've never run across that myself and i've had a ton of bodies on more than one occasion in my bases ( not in any games in the last few years as i generally kill the live ones that are useless... Lobstermen in peticular pile up if you dont collect the 5-6 bodies on a large missions and toss a gernade on em, and as an added bonus killing off 5-6 unconscious aliens has the same affect on the morale of the Aliens as if they were awake ..ya usually see a few panicks and beserks from the Aliens right afterwards )
[NKF]
Just how many aliens do you have that are waiting to be interrogated? Your containment only has a limited amount of aliens that can fit into it. Just want to cross another possibility off the list. By the way, if we can't come up with an answer through discussion alone, you may want to compress the file into a zip or rar file and post it in the savegame forum and let us have a crack at it and see what's wrong. - NKF
Hayashi
There are hardly any aliens left to interrogate. I have 3 assault bases with one containment facility each, and a research base with 2 such facilities. In any case as I've said only have a Snakeman Leader left to go (not that it will result in something useful, I need Commanders & medics). Also on the research tree I only have alien reproduction left to make my ufopedia complete. How can I get this, since there are no such components I can salvage to research?
Kratos
Ah, Alien Reproduction. It is said to be only found within a certain cheat. This cheat requires you to have 1 - 7 bases for one data while another data you load has 8 bases. Once you load the 8 bases data, you need to set the base screen to your 8th base. Immediately after that load the 1 - 7 bases game, then click on 'bases' in geoscape and you will find that you now have a nonexistant 8th base. Be careful though! If you click on another base you will have to repeat this process all over again because it will not allow you to go back to a 'dead' base if you will. After that, just go to research in the 'dead' 8th base and research Alien Reproduction. This cheat also contains tons of excess items to sell, but be sure not to sell over 1000 (IIRC) or it will crash the game. IMHO, play the game without selling the stuff, nothing is there that you cannot retain from playing the game besides Alien Reproduction.
Dover
Or just use an editor and give yourself one, because you can. I've actually never heard of that cheat, but I almost always have 8 bases super-quick so I guess it doesn't apply for me...
Hayashi
Well, if there's no legit in-game way of getting Alein Repro into the ufopedia, I can live without it. It's a dead end anyway, and doesn't lead to anything useful.I'm more concerned about getting a live alien commander though. As most will know, this critter is essential to finishing the game. Dover
Commanders are found on all battleships except muton, and at all bases, except muton. Just go over, pop one with a stun bomb, and bag-um. What I do when I need to capture a particular alien is a keep him in check with psi until everyone else is dead, then I give him the cattle-prod. Edit: You'll probably be disapointed with the end of the game. I sure was. It's just a regular night mission, with a base-invasion mission right after it. No biggie, although it was kind cool to have 8 differant races in one mission... The point being, getting a commander isn't all that great, seeing how it just means your one step closer to the end of your fun... Hayashi
Yes, I know. I've played the game before (& TFTD too) back in the days when DOS was standard & Windows optional.Well, I have three alien bases on Earth now, 2 Floater and 1 Muton. One Floater base was kept as my "milk cow" as it was conveniently located next to one of my main bases. So any time a Supply Ship comes in - zap! Time to take out the other 2 bases then. Let's see if I can get a commander from the other Floater base.
Dover
I envy you. My bases never contain anything easier than snakemen.

Theres gotta be a research editor around fer UFO I've found one fer TFTD just havent played UFO in so long its not something i've looked for. Hayashi
Well, it happened again. Raided a Muton base last night. Debrief screen says 2 live aliens captured. Back at base, when I tried to transfer the aliens to my research base, they didn't show up.Both assault & research base have alien containments which are empty (when I click on them, I get the option screen to dismantle. If they had even one alien in them I would've received a "Facility in Use" message). @ Dover: Well, I've had at least one base crewed by snakemen, one more by mutons, and one ethereal base plus a couple more I can't remember. Luck of the draw, I suppose.

Hayashi
Success! I raided a Floater base, captured the commander, and it's available on the transfer screen! What I did was to dismantle all but three of my alien containments - one at each of my strike bases. That appears to have done the trick! Now to wait for the new containment to be ready at my research base...
