How about an entry that comes up when you beat the game?, you give the final blow and it appears *magically*(no research), maybe after a cutscene or something like that, that it gives a hint of what's to come, I've thought of an X-net entry written in like a 100 years from now, saying what happened in this that it will be called the First Alien War (or something like that), we can have one for V2, and V3 as well (if we get to those ) . What do you think, comments comments *waits for Astyanax to rip his text apart*

FIRST ALIEN WAR (AW-1)

 

On January 12th, 2012, an UFO was detected over the skies of [random country]. The UFO was quickly intercepted by a number of military jet fighters which reported that it was not an aircraft that they had ever seen before; radio contact with the UFO was not possible. As the UFO attempted to flee the area, the interceptors managed to down it with a small amount of light missiles. Salvageable remaining proved to be out worldly, as neither the materials nor the general design of the ship were known, two occupants were found dead, they were not Human.

The pilots belonged to an Alien species known as Greys; the Alien UFO was a Probe-type Alien vessel.

The government managed to contain all knowledge about the aerial encounter and refused to divulge any information regarding it.

The downing of the Alien ship appeared to trigger a chain-reaction. In the following month, all artificial satellites orbiting Earth seemed to critically malfunction, ceasing all operation and in some cases, completely explode. The loss of Earth’s satellite grid came as a great shock to the different nations, as they attempted to control the resulting chaos. Long-range communications and orbital defenses disappeared in a blink; scattered satellite reports indicated the presence of unknown contacts shortly before the obliteration of the grid. It was learned afterwards, at the end of the war, that the satellite grid was destroyed by a small strike force of Recon-class Alien ships in a carefully planned attack; any detection by Humans would take place all too late to take action.

Alien attacks began shortly afterwards, terror-missions were conducted thorough the world by armed squads of various Alien species equipped with plasma weaponry, technology which was unknown at that time on Earth. The Alien terror-squads were met with light resistance, as Humans did not possess the technology necessary to properly mount a defense. Local military was ineffective, as the terror-attacks were quick and seemingly random.

Individual countries attempted to counter the Alien threat, with no success, as they tried to contain the panic that was growing. The United Nations convened to form an international force aimed at stopping the Alien attacks. The Counter-Alien Force (CAF) was formed. In an attempt to stop the spreading panic, CAF was made public; its location was left vague, revealing only that it was located in Eastern Europe. The United Nations, without knowledge of the nature or extent of Alien infiltrations, did not realize that they were dooming the CAF; the Counter-Alien Force’s base was attacked without warning by an Escort-type ship, its communications were cut, leaving the CAF without support of any kind. The base was overwhelmed and all personnel killed.

Weeks passed before the UN prepared a new plan, they realized that the possibility of Alien spies was a reality, and so they convened on creating a new attack force, which was to remain a covert organization, its location was to remain a secret even from the UN. Project Xenocide was created. It was provided with the best available technology and men.

The Xenocide Corps (X-Corps) began to respond to the Alien attacks. Intercepting Alien ships and meeting the terror-squads on ground.

They met a varied number of Alien species, very different among each other. By defeating the Alien ground teams, they obtained new technology, which was reverse-engineered and added to the X-Corps’ arsenal. It was during this time that laser-weapons technology was developed, as well as the plasma technology was discovered, and primitive types of armor like the old Praetorian Combat Powersuit and Anti-Grav Powersuit were created.

Slowly, the X-Corps began turning the tides of war against the Aliens, using their very technology against them. It was learned by interrogations and several studies that the Alien stronghold was located on Mars, striking Mars would surely put an end to the Aliens’ effort to conquer our planet. Later it was found that the different Alien species were being psionically controlled by a creature known as the Overmind (not to be mistaken with the [Overmind] species, unknown at the time), a creature of a completely different nature, which cloned the Alien troopers and sent them to fight in an attempt to assimilate the Human species into its forces. The Overmind creature had crash-landed in Mars millennia ago and wanted our planet’s resources and Human slaves; the entity had been watching the Humans for years and saw the Human potential for war.

The X-Corps, with the development of the XC-33 Vengeance, managed to take the fight to their own doorstep. A final assault on the Martian region of Thanatos saw the end of the Alien menace and the Overmind.

As the war came to an end, with the possibility of interstellar travel open by the discovery of Xenium-122, Project Xenocide was terminated and X-Corps bases dismantled, all personnel was met with honors, but were not made public.

Had Humans known what was to follow the AW-1, they would have thought twice before shutting down Project Xenocide…

Hang on just a second!!!! This sounds similar to my version of the alien backstory!!! I am willing to post up the version I did when I get home. That said, my version does go a bit further back than this.....

Nah, don't worry- I'm too sick at the moment to do any serious ripping. But I don't think this text needs more than a coat of polish.

 

Interesting, Azrael, very interesting. It really puts things into perspective. I think this would be something neat to include after the credits, a little something to hint at something more in the history of Xenocide.

 

Hey, we could even tie this in to tzuchan's backstory- the dormant underwater Overmind and a second Vaaish hive ship, or dipstick's backstory when I get a chance to read it, or maybe combine all the backstories together? But I guess that's still undecided...

 

I don't know if anyone else has thought of this, but don't people think the X-Corps is a destabilizing political force? I mean, all the countries pooled together to fund the X-Corps so they could defeat the Aliens. In the process, the X-Corps developed the most advanced and most powerful facilities, weapons, and air/spacecraft ever in human history. I'd think that those countries would be feeling mighty insecure having created such a powerful child... Without the common Alien threat to unite the countries of the world, I'd imagine X-Corps bases would be summarily besieged by their host countries to liberate the valuable weapons and technologies contained within. Or, should they fail in capturing the base, they might resort to nuclear devices, which may or may not succeed, depending on the Grav Shield's specifications. But I'm going off on a tangent...

 

Good work, Az! I'll look it over more closely once my mind becomes functional again.

That's the idea, after all the trouble of designing and making these armours which are so valuable, he reads at the end "primitive armors" and goes , pretty much like you , in 2300 these armors must be pretty primitive IMO, remember Apoc's armors.

Post it, my text is only a suggestion for a final bonus entry, maybe at the end of the credits as Astyanax said, let's see yours and see what we can make out of them both , the point of this final text is not to serve as backstory (easter eggs, random backstory when you beat the game? ), it is to briefly tell the events from another perspective, from like 300 years in the future, after all wars.

Autopsy of the recovered bodies revealed important weaknesses on the various species anatomy that could be exploited by the X-Corp's troops. It was during this time that laser-weapons technology was developed, as well as the discovery and understanding of the plasma technology, and primitive types of armor like the old Praetorian Combat Powersuit and Anti-Grav Powersuit were created.
